It's a little odd actually. When Dubya said "they hate us for our freedoms", lots of people scoffed. And it does sound kind of ridiculous. But right now we have a situation where we have: 1st amendment (freedom)>someone expressing that freedom>other people hating him and everyone associated with him for expressing that right. Somehow, the guy expressing his freedom is wrong.

Listen here- I'm tired of this shit. It's too easy to find a moderate Muslim who whines and cries that he's being discriminated against because of a small minority. But I've met maybe two that are actually doing anything about the cause of that discrimination. Quit crying, set your brothers straight if how they act is making your life difficult. Because right now all I see is someone who doesn't care that their brothers in faith are horrible, ignorant, humans.

Your argument is the same as a woman suffering from battered wife syndrome: "Oh, stop calling the Police on him, it just makes it harder for me. He can't help it, you said something that made him mad, and he does this when he gets mad. It's not his fault he beat me, he just had a bad day". I don't care who they saw it as an attack from. The video sounds crappy and kind of pointless. But I will not stand for someone's freedom of expression to be violated so some people, whether it's down the street or across the world, can keep from having their feelings hurt.

Also, stick this in your hookah and smoke it:
9/11 was justified using Muslim teachings.
9/11 was planned by Muslims.
9/11 was financed by Muslims.
9/11 was carried out by Muslims.
It wasn't an attack by all Muslims, but it was from Muslims.

I do get that it is a big deal to those living in those countries. But it is not appropriate to kill innocence people for the action of one person. It is not appropriate to call for the death of an entire nation because of the actions of one person that no one has ever heard of. And to get to one of your points, the whole world did not see 9/11 as an attack from Muslims; we saw it as an attack from extremists. But it is becoming clearer and clearer that the extremists are in charge. That they are the leaders.

What if the Pope still demanded that all holy Christians go off and kill Muslims? People would be pissed, people would leave the religion and very few would follow through. But Muslim Imams have called for the beheading of Christians and Jews, the destruction of Israel, and death to America, and what happens? People follow through. Americans are killed. Our Embassies attacked and bombed, our diplomats killed. Israel is bombed. But we're just told its a minority when it is the leaders who are calling for this.
User avatar #52 - nassirdada (09/16/2012) [-]
Great point. As an arab, and lebanese to be precise, the place where they burned down KFC (lulz) , I can truly relate to this. I am against everything that has been done by the extremists in the past week. Killing the ambassador and other innocent people and causing pointless riots wasn't the right choice; but the problem here lies in the fact that those who did this were idiots. They truly are. They didn't think this though. And to be honest, that's the problem with most people here, they're just blinded by hate.
You pretty much summed up what's wrong in the middle east. People here can't take a joke when it comes to religion, albeit muslims or christians. Lebanon has witnessed tons of wars and inner-problems between the two sides, and from my point of view, they're both guilty. Both are ruled by extremists and butt-heart people that can only raise their children to hate other religions; even though they both pretty much hate Israel and jews.

Tl;dr

Extremists rule the middle east. It's not the religion's fault, it's the people's.

Let me tell you something. There are caricatures being made all the time and of every more then average known person. It's a part of life. This isn't your personal utopia. And as long as nobody is showing insults down your throat, let it be. Who made you watch the movie? Did somebody force your to wear a shit with mohammed's picture on it?
The more you react the more "fun" it is.
Extremes must cease to exist, and as you may have noticed there are less and less religious people every day. It must start somehow.

That picture is stupid. How is it possibly only Christianity for one? Also, the Church supported a lot of famous inventors in the Renaissance, and helped head the technological advancement. The Church did not ban anyone from inventing in the Dark Ages, simply lack of scientists. After the 1500s, the Church didn't have any power anything. I mean, fair enough, there were a few exceptions, Galileo for one. But still, that chart has no real truth or fact behind it. Oh, and they hated Darwin, but had no power to stop him.
User avatar #92 - bluedwarf (09/16/2012) [-]
The point of the picture was to spread the insult on all religions, but if you insist to focus on christianity I'll just say that they burned a magnificent amount of science books labeled as heretic material.
Islam on the other hand during that period stimulated science.
User avatar #107 - theshadowed (09/16/2012) [-]
Also, that graph is massively over reacted, and Christian countries are a lot more advanced than Islam ones at the moment.

It is not that the USA made an insensitive video, it is that a guy living in the United States made an insensitive video. The country did not fund the video or even know about it till these protests. And we have made fun of Christianity here on FJ; have you never seen those "Fuck Off Jesus" posts? I find them hilarious. In the media we have shows like South Park that make fun of Jesus and no one really cares, but the second the decide to show a picture of Muhammad they get freaking death threats.

You know what I love about this whole thing? One of the main points of the video was to prove that Muslims are violent. The reaction from all of this proves it. A missile hit and killed several diplomats. Other Americans over seas have been attacked. Real good way to disprove that thesis. And I get that its not all Muslims but it ain't a tiny minority, and the rest are hardly doing much to calm down the situation.
User avatar #19 - ddaappoo (09/16/2012) [-]
doesn't really make it okay for extremists to murder innocent people and burn shit.
dude i'm a christian and i've seen the worst shit on the internet. my parents are one of those strict religious people. i don't think you'd see them rounding up the community and setting fire to schools.

CRUSAREDS *couch couch* BURNING WITCHES *couch couch* gay PEOPLE ARE WORSE PEOPLE *couch couch* GOD TOLD ME TO DECLARE A WAR ON THIS COUNTRY *couch couch*LET'S RAPE THE WOMEN OF THE SAME FUCKING COUNTRY* couch fucking couch*

We don't want to remember the errors of the people who believe in the same shit as we do.

Neither does muslims, only the most offensive ones explode them self (not for the religion actually, they do it to unbalance the goverment and economy of the united states).

btw. I'm a atheist whose mother is extremely religious (christian), dad is an asatru (odin thor and shizzle) and who has islamic neighbours. i know a little bit abour religion.
User avatar #135 - Crusader (09/16/2012) [-]
The crusades were not religious, they were political under the guise of religion.
The Pope thought that Christians had all claims on the holy land, even though it was the ancestral home of the Jews and under Saracen (Muslim) control.
Using the crusades as an excuse for why christianity is wrong is like me saying that the holocaust is why being german is wrong, why 9/11 makes islam wrong, why WW2 makes being japanese wrong.
You can make any group look bad by pointing out the bad parts, so sit down and shut up.
Saying that you live in a diverse area so you know a lot is like saying, you live near an army base, so you know about guns.
User avatar #94 - ddaappoo (09/16/2012) [-]
not every christian is a gay-bashing crusader who apparently rape women of their country and declare war because they had delusions that god told them to.

tbh i even fail to see your point regarding the whole debate. i'm not saying that every muslim is an extremist. infact i completely disagree and i am against that stance. i'm just saying that although the movie was distasteful, it shouldn't have caused what it did.

and you spelt cough wrong, sorry bro
User avatar #17 - micota (09/16/2012) [-]
Yes, the entire country got together and made a movie...
User avatar #23 - ikinkajou (09/16/2012) [-]
Alright, yes, you've got me there.

But, why would someone make a video solely for the purpose of making fun of a religion?

It takes a special kind of dick to do that.

But, I'm not saying that it hasn't been before, I'm just saying that's just a dick move.

@ddaappoo

I agree with you on that, but, you also have to take one more thing into account,

They saw this an attack from the US, not from the person.

Much like how the whole world saw 9/11 as an attack from muslims.

@tiredofannon

Muslims, especially Muslims living in countries that are solely Islam, take the portrayal of the prophet to be one of the greatest sins ever.

Mainly because Islam is everything in their lives, it revolves around their decision making and even how they talk.

If you look at People here, they're not as orthodox as the people there are.

The only thing you get are caps and a suite in the tower that doesn't have as much stuff as your house in megaton.

The only reason I can see for going the tenpenny route is if you hate megaton and it's peoples or just want the achievement or something.

The rewards are better if you let them live.
#148845 - sircool (09/15/2012) [-]
you honestly think blowing up the town is a good idea? Cheap vender that has everything, a customizable house (theme wise) and non-douchy people around it?

ten penny tower is full of ass holes, either ghoul or human, and the vender demand so much more cash. not to mention the room is boring as hell and slightly annoying to get to in the building, while the house in megaton is just a small walk from the gate.
