Well, there's New York, named after York.

It's all kind of silly; they just choose whatever name works.

Well the name New York was changed from Nieuw Amsterdam when it was taken over by the English. It was named to honor The duke of York (later King James II) who I guess funded the takeover or something. But I think that's different than naming it after a people who live 1000 miles away and might have never been here.

It's like going to England and naming a city Kentucky... Nowhere near Kentucky. Just as stupid.

The Shawnee lived a fourth of the way across the continent away from us, around the near side of the Appalachians, if I remember correctly.
They're a long ways away.

Not especially. There's a lot in Johnson County.
To be exact, most of the bigger suburbs of KC.
And, on the other hand, none of it is anywhere near hwere the actual Shawnee tribe was located in the first place.
#200 - ikiik (11/08/2013) [-]
Well then why call it Shawnee? I'm not even sure if the Shawnee lived where Shawnee County is. I know the Wichita was further up northeast than Wichita is.

Shawnee reporting in; these were also apparent:
-No potheads.
-No republicans.

-No giant ass ball of twine.

If you want to experience the true night life and stuff in Czech Republic, Prague is probably the only place you want to visit. Leave me a pm when you're here, I got some conexions in that circle (like shit tons of Absinth and another hard core distillery crap). Also my father owns a little music bar. If you want to take a look at our typical nature and landscapes make sure to visit CHKO Ĺ umava or National Park Czech Schwitzerland.

pic related, it's a place where they sell and serve only Absinth from France and Czech Republic

May i ask , giving that my vision of your country is the one i got from watching WW 2 footage , or indie horror films. How safe is the Czech Republic ?
User avatar #49 - vanillyguy (11/04/2013) [-]
Czech Republic is completely safe until you seek the danger if you know what I mean. No one ever robbed me or beated the shit out of me, most of the people in the streets are really relaxed.
User avatar #51 - tomtomvdp (11/05/2013) [-]
Cool , thanks for the info !
User avatar #47 - playercz (11/04/2013) [-]
well its not the safest place, but i would guess its safer than america
