My dear friend, I am English, living in the region of Hertfordshire.

He's using hyperbole as a tool of humour. As an English guy, I can confirm that many people will never say that they are proud to be English for fear of being called racists. It's an offshoot from media exposure to racist political and protest groups such as the British National Party and the English Defense League. Add to that the history of England being more powerful and wealthy than Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland, (despite the fact that England pretty much props them up financially) and you get people afraid to be proud of England for fear of backlash from the countries with which it is supposedly unified.

But, I was mostly referring to the fact that some counties get fined for flying the flag whether it being from the window of ones home, or on a car.

Don't worry, I do agree that what anon said above was completely dickish, misinformed and practically victim-blaming. I'm against the whole slutwalk movement but even I understand the implications of victim-blaming and victims getting the 'slut' stigma attached to them, 'cause, it apparently had something to do with the way they dressed. I see you're from London just like me and some areas can be really rapey. Where abouts are you from if you don't mind me asking? don't answer that question if you're uncomfortable with it Don't even talk to me about unlicensed cab drivers, the dodgiest and rapiest of those lot. It's obvious that males are the main perpetrators when it comes to rape but mind you that they're sociopathic opportunists and not just mere men.

im from south west london, which is meant to be a "safer" part of london because its more affluent or some bullshit but ive known several women to be raped or attacked, regardless of the area. im always cautious when taking cabs alone as ive heard far too many stories about women being abducted and murdered. i think its ridiculous to be afraid in my home area and i get absolutely terrified when random men compliment me in the street, people say to take it in a good way but if i thank them will they think its some sort of invitation to sleep with me. its things like that i shouldn't be afraid of. I personally think slutwalk is an empowering way for women to raise awareness of rape and sexual assault or harassment, they use it to remove the stigma of words like slut and whore, im strongly against groups like FEMEN though (mainly to do with their mosque protests).
the boys i know who have raped drunk girls are literally seemingly normal and nice boys who arent sociopathic freaks so it doesnt make sense why they'd do something so despicable, i have no idea why some of these guys do it. theres definitely some psychological issues to do with it though, it just doesnt make sense to me why some people cant define the differences between yes and no or "what the fuck dude, shes passed out"

this is the average "no one teaches men not to rape" bull shit you hear. you know what no one teaches women to do? not be victims. trying to shame the whole male gender will just get you hated by the male gender. in fact if you were to say that to a group of men theyd just call you a cunt and go on with their lives. you arent teaching anyone a lesson by trying to shame the male gender. no one teaches women to pay the bill. EVERYONE teaches men not to rape. theres just some people in society that dont obey the rules. you know what very few people teach women also? not to be slutty bitches. lets be real here: you have the parents, and then if youre religious churches. im not talking about wearing clothing im talking about sleeping around when you have a bf just because the bf lives a few towns away or just because hes over seas fighting for our country. when it comes down to it it's up to the woman to decide not to be a slut, just like its up to the man to decide to be a rapist so if youre a true slut, beyond just dressing with your cleavage hanging out you deserve to be shamed until the day you decide not to be a slut and hell maybe even beyond depending on the actions you take because there are WAY more suicide deaths that result in a man taking his own life due to a woman being a slutty bitch and cheating than there is girls. they just cry about it and go on the rebound
User avatar #291 - thirdjess (10/02/2013) [-]
Ok first off the list, number one: Jesus Christ dude you are one judgmental asshole. Number two: It's called a fucking paragraph.

Right. As Comment number 262 said, rapists don't think logically. They're not going to rape someone based on their clothing, usually rape happens between two people who know each other (let's say someone with unrequited feelings and their love interest), not randomly on the street.

Sexual assault, the slapping of asses and catcalls, are often provoked by revealing clothing; though we are both at fault here. Men are taught that catcalling is 'just a guy thing to do' and women are taught that they're allowed to be free spirits and where whatever they want. Both sides are full of shit. Point is: Don't confused your sexual assault facts with your rape facts, they are NOT the same thing.
User avatar #343 - weenieandthebutt (10/02/2013) [-]
Exactly! People seem to think that rapists are just common perverts or sexual harassers when it's predominately about power rather than sexuality.
User avatar #262 - weenieandthebutt (10/02/2013) [-]
Firstly, rapists don't seek potential victims based soely on clothing, they base it on overall vulnerability. Secondly, if that were the case, I would agree that anyone under no circumstances has the rights to sexually harass or rape someone based on clothing but like most crime, we all need to take safety precaution since we don't live in a utopian world. And also, please don't assume that rapists are amongst the statistics of normal functioning men in our society since they're sociopathic criminals. It offends me whenever I hear those remarks that all men are predetermined to be rapists, a rapist is merely an ignorant man who can't control himself blah blah. It has the same overtone as accusing the ethnic minority on the issues of stealing.
User avatar #388 - ijustwantedtophoto (10/02/2013) [-]
i know rapists dont prey on girls because of their looks, they want someone who they can easily pull into a dark space and wont escape. this guy was saying that rape happens for a reason when drunk girls wear skirts a little too short. i know boys that have raped girls because they were passed out and wearing a little dress and they said they did it because it was easy, which is just them trying to justify some despicable action. i take plenty of precaution, far too much for where i lvie. i should be able to walk down the streets in the evening in my suburban town without fearing that some crazy cunt is about to jump out and try to stick his dick in me. i didnt say all mean are meant to be rapists, i know plenty of boys that arent, but then again i know plenty of boys that are. i know a girl whos technically a rapist. its got absolutely nothing to do with gender. like stealing has nothing to do with ethnicity, i know many middle class white kids who steal.

idk i mean if i thought someone was about to attack me for any reason i always look at what theyre wearing. i always even look at what im wearing too. im not trying to brag or anything or be like "hurrr when i about to fite sumone i do this" but really. i love seeing someone wearing a jacket because a jacket it essentially the same thing as a gi youd see in jiu jitsu so i can use the sleeves and the collar for lapel chokes and something to grab on to if we end up fighting on the ground. people tend to not pay attention to what they/their opponents are wearing in a fight beyond trying to grab the dude and hold his shirt, when it can mean life or death/winning or losing
