What the hell does 'dying as a statistic' mean??
User avatar #136 - meganinja (06/20/2015) [-]
Means the only thing important that came out of her dying was that people could use it as a statistic.
User avatar #42 - trolljunkusa (06/20/2015) [-]
You are now accounted for when they say "every 6 seconds someone dies in a car crash"
User avatar #47 - ledneustadt (06/20/2015) [-]
But that implies that you became part of a statistic after you died, right? 'Dying as a statistic' seems to mean that, at the moment of death, you were a statistic
User avatar #49 - trolljunkusa (06/20/2015) [-]
English english english. People fuck it up

Pretty sure what he meant was, as soon as that person would have died, she would have become a statistic for car crashes.

Dying as a statistic?

As opposed to...?
User avatar #60 - norkasthethird (06/20/2015) [-]
Doing something worthwhile with your life and dying a peaceful death with no regrets.
#87 - Penn (06/20/2015) [-]
That still makes you a statistic.
User avatar #145 - killerliquid (06/20/2015) [-]
It also makes you more than a statistic
#147 - Penn (06/20/2015) [-]
What does that mean? Does it mean that I left this world with a sense of pride? That I left an impression on people? I don't understand your logic.

I could do something worthwhile with my life, make an impression on people, even fix the world, and still die in a car accident because of my recklessness.

The person in the gif could be the most generous man on the planet. Is he still 'just a statistic'?

What is 'more than a statistic'? What if I don't know anyone before I die. No one speaks my name after I'm gone, but I have no regrets in life?

"Those were the days" - you, 1 year from now

It's not bad being out, I kept in touch with my friends from my units. We usually get together a couple of times a year for stuff.

You'll miss it. Join the VFW, it will help, and it won't be so weird talking to them about the Army all the time...you're going to do it. You will grow out of it, you will start missing it less, but you will never stop missing it.

On the upside, you can finally smoke all that weed and don't have to get up in the morning to do PT.
