Tried for hours to fight my way through without the phosphorus... When I was about to give up, I had to give the controller to my friend so I wouldn't feel so damn guilty getting through that point.

I hesitated at first. I knew that those were civs inside, but I had no choice but to fire it...

I fired without hesitation because I had no idea the people were in the blast radius. I just assumed the game would only make it hit the bad guys. That was wrong.

Never even got that far. Random locals attacking for no reason? Sure, light 'em up (they had a reason to but I didn't know that at the time). Guys ON MY SIDE who have every reason to think I'm evil? No, especially when we had every opportunity to start a dialog or retreat.
I don't think of it as a loss on my part, after I quit and read up on it I decided that "Do this thing! GOTCHA, now you're a horrible person!" wasn't a reflection on modern shooter, it was just the writers being smug jerks.

I wanted to play this game but the internet has spoiled the relevant plot twist to me a long time ago.
#38 - trainalf (04/30/2014) [-]
Play it anyway. I'd heard the spoilers, and I'd watched all the scenes via youtube. But the shock hit me like a wrecking ball still when I finally got it. The true feels only happen when your holding the controller.

i tried to go down there to see if there was some way to not kill them, that game was so awful yet amazing at the same time

yeah, ditto, I tried to just shoot it out and the game wouldn't let me.

The only game i know where you use white phosphorous is Homefront. Is that what you're talking about?
User avatar
#20 - louharken (04/30/2014) [-]
Spec Ops: The Line, its the source of the image, you use phosphorous to burn an entire military camp unknowingly filled with survivors you were trying to rescue the whole time

Sounds fucked up. With Homefront the part that is shocking is you hear the screams of the people when the shells go off. Fuckin PTSD simulator 2011

homefront made it look like an effective weapon that should be used all together.

Spec ops made it look like the maw of hell opened. You're forced to walk through the area you bombed, hear and see still burning men scream for mercy or death. Then you turn to see the most common horror of conflict involving explosives. Unintended targets.

You see a full tent full of scorched corpses, the flesh burnt from their bones. A mother who's skin appears to have been barbecued off, holding the remains of what appears to be her baby, frozen in the last seconds of their life as she tries to turn her child away in a desperate and futile attempt to save them.

I know what happened in spec ops.

Well homefront did make you walk through it after it went off where everyone is still screaming and walking around aimlessly while they burn.

spec ops makes you go through the effects during and after. Being a target and targeting. Basically seeing it from both ends of the barrel, and the end results.

Well in Homefront the mortar misfires and the shell lands on top of you but because game logic you don't burn to death or get hurt. White Phosphorous is fucked up, end of story.

Woah, that sounds hardcore, i feel the urge to play it. Should i get it?

Yeah it's pretty good but there's some fucked up scene. Also it's basically Red Dawn (2013 version) the game but your a Pilot in Occupied Colorado and you fight your way to SF.

The game was made before Kim Jong Il died and correctly predicted Kim Jong-Un would success him. (2spooky)
