I never really hated beiber, what I really hated were his annoying fans(tween girls) who made him what he is. Those same fangirls are the same dumb ones that made twilight a success by pretty much throwing their parents money at beiber and being in denial that he'll be their boyfriend(and they say us guys are desperate...)

imo, beiber is just a childstar-like teen phase whose career is slowly dying. And he's just just a zombie doll being used, it doesn't matter how much people hate him because when he's gone some other teen idol idiot is just gonna replace him like the jonas brothers, backstreet boys etc and loop will go on..

Actually, he is famous because he has a really huge and irritating fanbase that simply will not let him fall out of the vox populi. Because of that, he keeps being forced into the spotlight and everything he says and does gets scrutinised meaning that whenever he does do something stupid, the media and the internet are there in a heartbeat to record it.

(Granted, a lot of the shit he does is stupid beyond the need for scrutiny but sometimes his stupidity comes in layers.)

The hatred is a biproduct of the fame that is generated by both Beiber and his Beliebers. Were they not in the spotlight so consistently the internet simply would let them get on with their lives whilst silently hating their guts, like what has happened with Chris Brown.

We know he is a horrible person but because he doesn't make an arse of himself anywhere near as consistently or as monumentally as beiber does, he doesn't get much coverage.

But isn't stardom and popularity based on all sorts of attention? I mean, by constantly having these kinds of posts and comments on FJ, Youtube, random forums and what not, it gives him attention. In 18 hours almost 60 people commented, which means they pay enough interest to this to not just skip it, but also comment on it. I think posters like these are just as responsible for him staying famous as his fanbase.

Interesting, but then ask yourself what would change if everyone ceased hating on Beiber.

Yes, his fans would not need to be so die-hard because of the lack of "haters" but they would still love him just as much because he fulfils a need in their hearts the same as the Twilight books did to the Twihards.

Perhaps the best and most relevant example is Bronies. Granted, not everyone has ceased their attacks towards the culture but most people seem to have either accepted their differing viewpoints or given up on their attempts of trolling or spoken "hatred".

However the brony fanbase is as strong, if not stronger than ever because it is held together not by their desire to band together against the "parasprites" but because they find unity in something that they enjoy.

The show may have gained fame through the hatred but it has reached the point where both the hatred and lack of hatred do nothing to further the popularity of the franchise because other elements have taken over in the forms of promotion and unity.

The same is true of the Beliebers and were we to stop hating, Beiber would not just go away. The only thing that we would lose is a funny joke as evidenced by the drop in anti-pony culture on FJ. There were a lot of genuinely funny anti-pony posts during the rage-times that even members of the fanbase (the mature ones at least) enjoyed.

There is no reason to stop hating on Beiber anymore other than people have simply become tired of it and want to find a reason to justify their wants to not see the humour anymore past the fact that they are bored of it, which is why I don't mind Beiber posts, even though I am getting a tad bored of them, because everyone is entitled to their fun if it's not hurting anyone.

You are not taking a major factor into account. Pop musicians usually have a short carreer. It is a culture that tends to jump quickly to other, new celebrities. In Justin's case, I think we keep his community strong because he is now one of the faces of pop culture, therefore they need to defend it. That makes him as an icon much more important.
As for the brony community, I rarely see pony posts anymore. Most people stopped hating on bronies, so they stopped shoving it into our faces. Also, MLP is not at all that horrible. I am not a brony myself, but I can see the charm it can have on others.
In conclusion, I think that stopping hating on Justin will make him dissappear, simply because it is in the nature of the pop culture to jump to different idols if the old ones are not interesting anymore, and we are the ones keeping him interesting.

A clever argument. The nature of Pop Music wasn't something that crossed my mind, rather what I focussed upon was Pop Culture.

However, what you said is both the argument for and against your point. You point out that it is the nature of the industry that sooner or later Beiber will fall out of fashion and be replaced as have other pop "artists", but that also supports the fact that the community can continue to make jokes about him at their leisure because he will not last forever and we should have our fun whilst we can.

He will fade, that is almost certain, but if it is inevitable then evidently we can continue without fear that he will never leave.

That may be true, but hating is the reason he is still here. He would have been gone months ago if it weren't for these haters. The ironic thing is that the people who hate him are the ones keeping him here. My point was that we prolonged the lifespan of his carreer by hating.

Do you have definitive proof that the only reason for his continued success as an artist and continued coverage in the media is that of haters?

Personally I think there are many more factors that go into why he is still popular than his critics.

Ah yes. I was so lost in this particular detail that I lost sight of everything else. No, I certainly do not have proof, but I still strongly believe it is one of the major factors.
