>People actually get thumbed up for non-confirming opinions quite often.
literally makes no sense. why would the majority thumb you up for going against them?

Because that's how society works

Not every opinion that goes against the status quo is offensive or gets negative lash back. Sometimes those opinions just bring up something that others may have been thinking or agree with, but avoided saying because of it being the unpopular opinion. It's how societal change comes about.

Not every comment does of course, some perfectly valid opinions and viewpoints still get red thumbed, but if you're not being outright rude/stupid/ignorant or very blatently baiting and shitposting, you generally won't get red thumbed into oblivion.

Well, 4 months after our breakup..

I lost 70 lbs, I've changed completely for the better, and everyone thinks I'm an amazing person now..

I sent her a message after 3 months of no contact. She saw it and completely ignored it.

The pain will never go away. I have no answers and no closure, and she still loved me when we broke up.

Don't think too much about it. First relationship is always like that. A mental trap that makes you think this is the best what you could have gotten. Trap that makes you think "what if I will never feel the same thing with anyone else?" "what if it will feel lackluster because of different kisses, different hugs".

Absolutely not. None of these will be a real issue. Believe me. The more you will look back the more you will realise how many things were shit. If her breakup came to you by surprise, you likely just didn't have the capacity to see certain things. And I don't mean it in any offensive way. I had the same thing. My first bf's change of mind about our relationship seemed so surprising, so out of nowhere.

But I got over him, I grew up mentally and later, looking back, I gradually saw more and more how much he lied, how big of a selfish wimp he was, and how many things that I was clueless about back then are now a bright red light whenever I see them in a person I just met. Especially a person who says stuff like "things changed" is likely a self-centered asshole. It may not seem like it, but it often is true.

Pretty sure whenever someone tells you the "change" bullshit, it's actually all about them getting bored of a regular relationships and wanting to get someone more exciting. Because unstable little children are too hooked to these overrated "butterflies in stomach" thing, and run towards every asshole that makes them feel a slight nudge in their bellies. Fuck them, they are not worth of any grief.

It's not worth to have a crisis about something like that. The fact that it was your first and only relationship is the only reason why you're taking it so hard. It will get better. In fact, getting into some rather non-commital relationship afterwards is the best way to recover. Just meet up with somone you fancy in some way, and see what happens. Trust me on that one.
