It's really fucking confusing. But in summary the kids family is being chased after by the mob and so go on vacation. At some point on vacation they get run over by a car and some brain trauma of some sort happens to the kid and he keeps forgetting his parents are dead. The title is based around the song "The Farmer and the dell" where at some point one of the lines is 'the cheese stands alone' since his family is dead, kinda depressing... I assume they were calling you it as a joke. the author likes weird titled books like another of his books is titled "The Chocolate Wars", havent read that tho.

I say it's just a joke. I chose the book cus i thought the title was funny but the book kinda gave me a "WTF?" reaction. They probably were just calling you that since you hadnt read it and wouldnt know

ya thats why , i never even read the book but alot of my friends did and after that they started saying that i was the cheese , but since i never read that book i dont know what they meant by it, do you?
