finished uni with bachelor of Electrical and Computer Engineering degree, quit my first job after 2 months (it was super boring quality assurance engineering and my colleague told me I should "get out while I can" and pursue music [we were both musicians and he saw himself in me and the lost opportunity to pursue his dreams before making tons of money at a boring job and supporting his family]).

So I did some web programming stuff and made videos for some local oranisations and with some local university students and started a band. Then I met this German girl on set of a film. We ended up having a fling for a few weeks, then she was to return to Germany. She was like, "I love you! Please move to Germany!" And I was like, "bitch, this is just a fling, and I don't love you. Plus you have a boyfriend back in Germany. But I tell you what - I'm all for adventure, so if you could find me a job and a place to stay, I'd totally move to Germany." In that moment she called up her uncle or something and got me a web development job. Two weeks later, I arrived in Munich, and the bitch moved to Austria a month later and I've been here ever since.

I told myself a) I'm staying regardless of the bitch
b) I'm staying minimum 2 years so I can pick up the language and see how it is to live here and not be a tourist

I started another band, got addicted to heroin, got clean, started another band, and have worked my way up and am now a very well-paid freelance web developer (I do mostly front-end shit but can really do everything). I just released my first full-length album www.colouringbookmusic.com and am teaching myself animation and have started writing poetry and enjoy the amazing weather and even more amazing beer.

And my best mate from college is coming out in two weeks to visit. So yeah - my life is amazing!

Where are you from and have you visited Germany/do you plan to? If you come to Munich I'd be glad to show you around.

Peace.

that's the only way to learn!

I moved to Germany from the US nearly 8 years ago. Just being around German speakers helps immensely. And my grammar I got from either German for dummies or getting drunk and trying to have my friends explain reflexive verbs or the difference between "gesendet" and "verschickt"

oh yeah, I had to think for a second.

Ich mag dich = I like you
Ich habe dich Lieb = ??? (literally "I have you love")
Ich liebe dich = I love you

You could also say:
Du gefällst mir = I like you (you please me)
