Such is life in the zone
Shadow of Chernobyl Complete is great if you want a very vanilla feel for a first playthrough but with updated graphics. Otherwise there is a mod called LURK that tweaks a lot of game mechanics and also overhauls the visuals.
Don't, complete makes the game too easy.
Play The Zone Reclaimation project instead. And stay away from Lost Alpha.
Why?.Lost Alpha it's bad?
Lost Alpha completely dumbs down the story by introducing the illuminati, not to mention the crappy voice acting.
The gameplay is dumbed down by bullet spongey enemies, enemies that spawn right behind you, giant expanses of absolutely fucking nothing, stupid fetch quests that require you to hold the sprint button down for 20-30 minutes, etc. Basically, fake difficulty and unoriginal quests all around.
Thanks for the details. I was thinking to give it a try but now... perhaps I don't.

oh.. that's interesting.
Much like using elastic material and some weights to visualize gravity
Not a physics man, but I often thought about how to imagine absolute zero. Imagining basic x/y 2 dymensional chart with axiom towards zero didnt seem like an obvious explanation.
Temperature traveling through radius of a disc is amazingly simple visual explanation. at the center there is simply no more room to get lower.

lord of terror
Maybe im biased from my enjoyment of it. but even though it has useful aspects, it still felt entirely forced in for many years. Invention, and to a lesser extent guthix lore did help somewhat though in making it feel a proper part of the game though.
