Accept for when you realize that it was basically a pretty accurate description of Jordan Belfort's life, according to Belfort himself.
The only thing they got wrong were the circumstances that ended his second marriage. "Although he admitted to having hit his wife during a fight, he claims that it happened earlier during the height of his drug addiction, and that their break-up occurred without incident when he was clean and sober." -IMDb (www.imdb.com/title/tt0993846/trivia?ref_=tt_trv_trv#spoilers)

i remember this once when red bull got introduced to my country (norway)
it was a pretty big deal for us little shits, i drank the stuff like water because of the bandwagoning cunt i was
not long after in the newspapers there was a article about a man drinking 6 of them and collapsing on the floor, entire school nearly shat their pants
i called fucking bullshit, went to the store, got 2 six packs and chugged those fuckers like it was the fountain of youth
day after in class it seemed the newspaper forgot to mention the guy had a long life of hearth problems and was weak to caffeine
this of course has nothing to do with nuclear power, but the bandwagoning effect of how misinformation spreads and causes biases towards or against certain things
thanks for the reaction image btw, i really needed one like that

A football player needs to know how the trajectory works in order to make the most of it. Same how a gamer should know which part does what, in order to ensure quality and making the most out of his computer.
It's also about price. If you could easily put together a great football for 1k, almost like LEGO, or buy one that has the same quality for 3k, would you rather pay for it or just do something hardly any more difficult? The remaining 2k can be used to buy the rest of the equipment, or a bunch of games.

Except no, not really. Should a tennis player also make his own racquet by hand to be called a true tennis player?
And there, there it is. "It's all about price." Yes, that's exactly it and the price has nothing to do with being a gamer.
What if I were a multimillionaire? Then the difference of a few thousand would make very little difference to me. Building your own PC is great if you want to save money, otherwise just buying one amounts to the same thing and has nothing to do with being a gamer.

A computer is equipment, and you need to know how to handle it. If a tennis player hammers the racket into the ground repeatedly or shoves a knife through it, it will break. Might be fun, but not very useful. Same as how a gamer should know what the different components do, in order to not break them. It's also better to change parts. A tennis player doesn't buy a whole new outfit just because the shoes get worn.

Look, you can be as bitching as you want. I really don't care what you waste your money on. But do keep it in mind when your graphics card fries for overuse and you order a whole new computer. Just like football players change all their equipment because their shoelaces are loose.

Actually I think it holds as a very important part, In a "Samurai who forges his own blade sorta way." I dont have a gamring computer (yet) but I have painted and customized my consoles and controllers, and it gives you a hell of a sense of pride because ou made it your own. And isnt that what gaming is about, making it your own?

I think dependent solely on the experience of the gamer. That they should build their own PC. I bought the new ROG from Asus, and it is Uh- Mazing. I think for the base models you get more for your money than if you were to buy a i7 4.2gHz CPU, 8GB DDR3, 750gb HDD, GeForce 750 GT Ti 2GB GPU, and 1000W power supply. That'll easily run you almost 900 bucks. Not counting the motherboard, usb, led, and anything else that you want to add, monitor, keyboard, mouse, pad, and headgear.

Monitor, keyboard, mouse, pad, headgear, and stereo aren't included in base computers, though. And my computer was about 2k, which is generally cheaper than what else you get prebuilt in Norway. Intel i7 2600k, 16 GB DDR, 750 HDD, Geforce 780 and 850 power supply. And those parts were bought when brand new on the market. If I wanted something similar from Alienware or other suppliers that was prebuilt, we'd be up in 3-4k.
