Yeah but when a studio promises all of these awesome features in a game, but then when you find out only about a quarter of what they said is actually in the game you feel like you've been cheated out of your money, people who make games should make games because they love games, not just to milk money out of it. Gamers standards aren't too high, anybody would to the same to a book. What if Harry Potter had a terrible ending? Wasn't what it was hyped up to be? Many readers would feel cheated and react the same way.
TL;DR Gamers are just like any other fan, such as readers. They would all react the same way.

Some company created around twelve to thirty two hours of content for me. Unless I specifically don't like the entire concept - In essence, I dislike the whole game, for example, I'm not a fan of racing games. - I will receive that game with happiness, when a game leaves out minor details they promised, I don't really care, millions of dollars were spent on this one project, and I'm absolutely glad that these people took months out of their lives to deliver this to me.
TL;DR: Don't take what we have for granted.

Actually, you know what? I sort of half agree with you. Reading some of the player reviews for Mass Effect 3, the people sound like stuck up little brats. Sure the ending sucked, but the rest of the game was good. But people are saying the whole game sucks because of the ending. But some of the stuck up spoiled brat stuff is needed in the gaming community, so game devs have a reason to work extra hard to make their games amazing.

pic unrelated, it just makes me giggle

okay. the developer lies to the consumer about this awesome new feature. consumer buys game because of this new feature. new feature is not in the game, consumer is left pissed that the developer lied to him/her. this is not overhyping a game for yourself, this is expecting something in a game based on "factual confirmation" from the developer. they are not the same thing.

although there are many examples of gamers overhyping themselves way too much and expecting the highest standards - a large portion of the skyrim fanbase for example, that was not my point. i'm just saying gamers have a right to whine when they are deceived into paying for a new game.

You're still spoiled for it.

well, if i'm paying for it, i want it to be amazing, naturally. but if i buy a game and it turns out not to be amazing? well i can't complain, it's not like the developers lied about stuff being in the game which sounded awesome, then it turned out that stuff wasn't actually in the game, right?

i hope you were hinting at the whole mass effect 3 ending fiasco, because then all that sarcasm was for nothing.

What about Fable? There was so many things that the devs said would be in the game, but they only put in about half of they promised. But then again, I'm talking about Lionhead and not usual game studios.

That's what I'm talking about, people put their time and effort into games, and everyone bitches about the shit it doesn't have.

whoa, calm down there bro, i'm not talking about the usual PR jargon such as "our game is amazing, buy it" or "our game is the most anticipated game of..." etc, etc. almost no one takes their word for it. it's when developers straight up lie about what is going to be in a game that irks me. the most recent example being mass effect 3.

and a game can be critically amazing, but i will hate it. just like many are disappointed with me3, but the critics loved it. for the record i love mass effect 3, i just take issue with the ending. you can do all the "reserch" you possibly can do and every source may give a positive opinion, but you still might end up hating the game, or vice versa. see what i'm getting at? it all comes down to opinion.

now please, don't be so hostile, especially when you're wrong.
