I notice your profile says you are from Norway. "for" in this case is just a preposition used after the verb "to solve" for a specific variable. I'm not sure if you didn't learn it that, but that is how we do it in the states.

Solve for the value of x.
Solve the problem.
or
Find the value of x.
We don't "solve the value of x."

"solve for" is short for "solve for the value of."

Nothing is wrong with me, what do you mean? I just focus on my own business, live and let live. What happens to some kid in Africa in no way affects me directly.
User avatar #74 - starshroom (05/08/2013) [-]
But compassion is supposed to be a human emotion. If you aren't capable of it just because you don't know these people then you don't seem very far-sighted...
#125 - N. Korean citizen (05/09/2013) [-]
Compassion is a weakness. Emotions cloud our minds and cause people to make stupid illogical decisions.

No they're all that concerns me... my immediate circle of family and friends is who I care about. I'm not worried about some starving kid in Africa the same way he's not worried about me.

Not an irrational fear. It's unlikely that you'll ever get sucked into one, granted, but spaghettification is not something I want to experience.

jews are Caucasian.
User avatar #4 to #3 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
nope. No jews, only christians :p - at least no one I know of.

I'm not a racist or anything, though ;)
User avatar #5 to #4 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
wow, i just realized how weird my question was.. lol
User avatar #6 to #5 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
true, that :p nevertheless, I intend to give an honest answer to any question you may present me with :)

and what race are you, if I might ask?
User avatar #7 to #6 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
im caucasian, semitic, an arab who is a relative to the jews.
User avatar #8 to #7 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
aha. interesting :p
User avatar #9 to #8 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]

i felt ashamed when i discovered that im close to teh jews :P
User avatar #10 to #9 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
haha, why would you? :p

that's nothing to be ashamed of ;)
User avatar #11 to #10 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
everyone is racist at some point, because its hard to get to know everyone, so we judge generally based on what we experienced, its easier. i never got the chance to be friends with a jew, a bedouin, or a black person.
User avatar #12 to #11 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
I see what you mean. But generally, even if I'm sceptical towards a certain race or religious group, I try to keep an open mind and not expect the worst from people.

But I can honestly say that some races scare or intimidate me, such as some religious muslims or people from cartain countries in Africa. mostly because they have other morals and values in their culture, which I might not approve of as my own.
User avatar #13 to #12 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
i try, but youknow, there arent much races where i live...+ racism is funny.
you dont have to approve, but you can respect them and let them be. respecting an opinion doesn't mean applying it on your self. i dont fear other religions or groups, because i am a muslim, people should fear me :P hahaha.
User avatar #14 to #13 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
haha, true that :p
User avatar #15 to #14 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
i try to understand everyone, by learning about cultures and religions, not everyone is bad as they seem to be...except al qaeda and consumerism.
User avatar #16 to #15 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
yeah, I try too, but there are extremists from every group messing things up for everybody else who actually are normal well functioning people.
User avatar #17 to #16 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
naaaa, extremist arnt that big of a deal, you can always pass those people.
User avatar #18 to #17 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
maybe..
User avatar #19 to #18 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
hmm, thats why i prefer naming more groups. i dont call alqaeda extremists, they are a totally different thing.
User avatar #20 to #19 - hundrings (09/03/2011) [-]
yeah, you might be right. They seem to believe in something completely different than regular muslims..
User avatar #21 to #20 - ragenFOX (09/03/2011) [-]
no the belief is the same, but the way is different. for them, an unbeliever is an enemy, no matter what. also, they are obsessed with revenge, but always the wrong person suffers. fucked up logic.
