Sorta like how not putting on the parking brake wears out the brakes on your wheels?
#108 - huidaman (08/03/2012) [-]
Umm...I'll go with the assumption you're not being sarcastic.
In which case, you're partially correct. Not using your parking brake will cause the cables to rust, and cease.

Resting your foot on the clutch pedal puts constant pressure on the "clutch release" bearing, which is always spinning at 700+RPM. It has no source of external lubrication, except what it came assembled with. It will therefore "cook", and you'll get a rather horrible grinding noise. It'll also cause your clutch to fail earlier than it should.

Ah, okay. To be honest, I don't know all that much about cars. More of a computer guy, as a matter of fact.

I don't mean pressing down on it, just resting your left foot on it, so that it's there for a quicker reaction time.

I'd recommend against that. It wears out the throw-out bearing, causing premature clutch failure.

Theoretically if you froze someone instantly to 0 Kelvin, then after an undetermined time returned them instantly to room temperature, I don't think they would die.

The main problem with cryogenic stasis is water in the body freezing and expanding into ice, destroying cells as a result. The water molecules would not have the opportunity to realign at 0 Kelvin therefore your body would remain undamaged.

Therefore, not death.
User avatar #67 - boxrocker (08/01/2012) [-]
But would your consciousness survive? How can you maintain brain activity without any electrical signals being transmitted? Electrical or chemical transmissions are impossible for the body to produce at absolute zero.
#463 - xxxsonic fanxxx (08/02/2012) [-]
Your brain activity wouldn't need to persist. Every atom is motionless.
While I'm not an expert on the subject, wouldn't time effectively stop for everything within a 0 Kelvin environment?
Time may pass in the universe, but nothing would ever change until it was removed from 0 Kelvin.
User avatar #485 - boxrocker (08/04/2012) [-]
If you're talking about biochemistry as a predeterminate science, then yes. But that's only if you believe that the human mind is governed 100% by physical and chemical reactions. If such were true, then it would prove that there is no such thing as a human soul.

Scary thought bro.

Funny part is that it's been hitting low-to-mid 40s (104-113F) on and off all summer. It was about 32 when the hail hit. I was driving down a highway, and saw car after car parked under bridges. I didn't get hit by the hail, but when I heard how big some of it was, I realize I probably should have stopped just in case :/

thumbing down every single upload to newest uploads doesn't improve you chances of having your ****** ass content make it to the front page.

It just makes you look like a butthurt faggot.

And don't even try to lie and say you didn't, the moment the newest uploads from earlier today were an hour old, you were listed as having thumbed down every single one.
#2 to #1 - huidaman (04/02/2014) [-]
Fantastic that you noticed.

I simply went through each of the newest uploads, one by one, and thumbed down every one that:
1: I saw earlier that day
2: I saw earlier that week
3: Did not make any sense
4: Was not funny
5: Was an obvious "This shouldn't make it to the front page, but hey...I'm just going to leave it here because I've seen similar random posts make it to #1"
6: I saw earlier that day
7: Was a boring screenclip of an anime show
8: Was an uninteresting YouTube video
9: Was an unfunny screencap of a game
10: I saw earlier that day.

Also, if you'd pay attention, I haven't actually uploaded anything to this website since October of 2012. I just comment from time-to-time, and go through the highest rated (and newest uploaded when I run out) and thumb accordingly.

Or...perhaps I should do it anonymously, like yourself.
