you can still play a lot of games a 720p and they look just fine. BF3, MoHW, Spec Ops The Line, they all look just as good as they look on most gaming PCs unless you have a $2000 on like yours and can run on ULTRA at full resolution. Plus consoles have no hackers and a better community is always a plus

Consoles won't give you anything a PC can't but gaming machines are also wayy more expensive than those consoles. In fact, they would be under priced when compared to a gaming rig. You can still play intensive games like BF3 on consoles with decent HD quality but no way in hell can you do that with a $300 PC

I bought my current computer about 4 years ago for roughly $2100, yet I can still play games with better graphics than any consoles can provide. I know a Console doesn't cost that much, just thought I would point it out ^^
The biggest problem with consoles is that they are outdated graphics wise before they are even released. The game Journey for Playstation 3 is the only game I can think of worth actually playing, and that is simply for the gameplay, which I believe is a brave move - releasing a game which focuses only on gameplay, to a console.

True. I do own 3 different iPhones and an iPad. Yet I still feel that all of those purchases made more sense than buying an Xbox or a Playstation (One of the new ones, still have 2 of the first one)
I don't see how either of those consoles can possibly give me something that a PC can't.

The first Playstation gave us something PC's weren't able to provide back then, which is why I believe it was worth the purchase.
I bought my own Playstation a year or so after it was released and it seems the Playstation 3 costs about the same as the Playstation did back then.
