anyway what I originally said way its only justified for the publics peace of mind, like if theres an outcry to have such a person executed. I'd like to see a justice system that could rehabilitate misfit criminals too, i don't like the idea of a government having to power to execute its people. but unfortunately when it comes down to the true insane nature of people its a dog eat dog world.

its justified because sometimes allowing people like that to roam free again could be a bad idea. don't forget that sadly, some people are just crazy by nature. the more people I meet the more I realise that bad habits can stick.

Sorry man, I wasn't clear - I was saying imprison them indefinitely until they are ever deemed fit to rejoin society - or just imprison them for life.

I guess I'm kinda liberal. I really like the northern version of prison, expensive but it really treats them like people and means they don't come out full of anger and bitterness.

what I mean is it can be justified if its ether brutal dictator, or someone who is good at preying on the weak. chances are those kinds of people have hurt a lot of other people and will always go back to their old ways. I don't agree with a capital punishment but I can understand why people would be out for blood.

But what about trying to rehabilitate them? And until they are, if ever they are, keep them in prison? I mean, that type of prisoner is so uncommon it won't be much a strain on the taxpayer. You say it's justified, then say you don't agree with it. Aren't you contradicting yourself? I mean, I understand too why people would want blood for blood, for closure, revenge, etc. But surely we are above using emotion to dictate punishments?
I used to be pro capital punishment, but I don't now that I've matured more and read a lot more around why it's important.

Maybe I'm just being an idealist though, but isn't there enough evil done as it is? Why add to it?
