Oh and the holocaust.
#216 - anon (10/21/2012) [-]
And the holocaust has something to do with religion?
Huh, and here's me thinking that it was an ethnic cleansing..
User avatar
#214 - drewbridge (10/21/2012) [-]
If you're saying Christians committed the holocaust....lol no. no-one was saying "Man, I hope Jesus is happy about all these people we're gassing and burning, because we are doing it purely for the sake of Him and Christianity."
They killed jews because they believed they were tainting the white race by being leeches and greedy.

I'd say 95% of Christians today support the Jews and Israel today, anyway.
#254 - anon (10/21/2012) [-]
Also, Hitler was athiest. The Nazi Regime was athiest. not christian at all. Js

So you are saying that the majority of the nazi's were not Christian/catholic/etc. and did not use their faith to justify what they were doing?
User avatar
#226 - drewbridge (10/21/2012) [-]
They used hardcore nationalism and were brainwashed into believing that Jews were literally inferior people. I think about 90% of the current German population was Christian/Catholic.

If I'm a leader who is a genocidal maniac, and my people are 90% Muslim, you sure as hell bet I'm going to be "Muslim", and tell them their God told me to murder millions of innocent people. (They were still mad about getting kind of fucked over in WW1, and were out for redemption)
User avatar
#233 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
So wait, that 90% killed people, because someone told them their god demanded it? I understand about your reasoning on why hitler doesn't represent the Christian faith, but what of the Christians who killed because of the belief it was their gods desire?
User avatar
#236 - drewbridge (10/21/2012) [-]
I didn't make this incredibly clear.

It was kind of a bandwagon. There was very obviously more than one reason they killed the jews.
User avatar
#237 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
But you did explain that their faith was one tool they used to justify their actions, correct?
User avatar
#248 - drewbridge (10/21/2012) [-]
It did, but only a very small amount. They were happy that Hitler was a Christian. If you ask any of the German soldiers who fought during WW2 why they were fighting or why they hated the jews, they'd give you political, economical or racial reasons, and I'd highly, highly doubt any religious reasons.

Hitler's big thing was "Jews ruined economy and ruin everything, go kill them."
Not really "Your God said to kill jews so go do that."
User avatar
#265 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
That doesn't make much sense though to say religion wasn't a reasoning tool, since the very large amount of Christians agreed with hitler and a lot of his points, this would also lead to them agreeing it followed their religion, since of they had the inkling of an idea their god would not want this, then why would they endorse nazi actions? You could say they were forced but many did so willingly.
User avatar
#641 - drewbridge (10/22/2012) [-]
Because it's easier to blindly follow what one person says about everything then actually go look up where it says to kill jews. It doesn't, and it wasn't a Christian war on jews, and saying Iraq was Christian inspired is fucking stupid.
User avatar
#183 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
So what is going on now in the middle east isn't religiously motivated? Bush saying god told him to invade Iraq wasn't religious related? Conflict with almost all surroundings of israel isn't religiously motivated? Etc etc.
#188 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
The conflicts between Jews and Muslims in the conflicts around isreal? Yeah, I don't think anyone is saying Christianity motivated those. Because that's what the first guy was talking about.
User avatar
#196 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
Considering Muslims,Jews an Christians are all founded on the same base of abrahamic beliefs, I can group them together. And I was talking about all religions. But for the sake of argument the last large conflict from Christianity was the holocaust.
#199 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
No.. It wasn't. It was in the name of a crazy individuals agenda. If it was in the name of Christianity you wouldn't have had millions of Christians trying to stop it.
User avatar
#203 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
Yes you would....because Christians are still people with evolved morals. Even so, look up letters sent from bishops around the world and even from the Vatican, telling hitler they supported him and wishing him good fortune in his cause.

Christianity was a leading force in the holocaust, why is that wrong to say?
#208 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
Henry Ford heavily supported Hitler. By your logic, Ford automotive was the driving force between the holocaust and now all Ford owners are terrible people.

The agenda of crazed individuals doesn't define a religion. Next you're going to tell me all muslims are terrorists because of extremists. You're placing blanket statements over a group of people to give yourself some sort of assurance that you're better than them, when what you're saying simply isn't true.
#224 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
If fact if we use your logic, that Christianity motivated Hitler to create the Holocaust we can apply it elsewhere

If Hitler was motivated by Christianity, and Hitler killed himself, Christianity is the force that got rid of Hitler and ended World War II
User avatar
#211 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
No because many of the individual's involved in the holocaust didn't justify what they were doing by their cars owners manual. Where as many of the nazi's used their treatment in the previous war, their poverty levels, and their faith to justify the battles and killings.

No Muslims are no terrorists because of extremists, they are violent because their religion is violent. If they aren't violent then good, they are kind human beings, but they are also bad muslims.
#219 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
Except Islam isn't a violent religion. It can be wildly interpreted as one by someone who is insane, but it isn't.

At this point I can tell you don't know what you're talking about at all. Just because a lunatic doesn't something in the name of something else, that doesn't make that thing inherently evil.
User avatar
#230 - noblexfenrir (10/21/2012) [-]
It is violent. If you read the Quran it commands violence, not suggests it or misinterprets it, it commands violence and uses peace purely as a conversion tool. Go through the Quran and replae Allah with dictator, general, hitler, etc. and this veil of peace and acceptance would not exist. Only because it is a religious belief with non-violent believers does not change what that specific religion entails.

I never said that it was Christianity that said kill all the Jews and what not, I said it was used as a reasoning tool. There were many people involved other than hitler, even we he used his Christian faith. So no Christianity doesn't explicitly say to do those things however, it was interpreted in a way that it would justify these actions. And unless someone takes their religious text literally, they cannot speak against this because they have their own interpretation.
User avatar
#247 - theexo (10/21/2012) [-]
religion was in fact not used as a reasoning tool to explain the holocaust. during post war trials no one said that god made them do anything, nor did they think that they would go to hell if they didn't do it. the one thing they ever pointed to was that they were following orders
#191 - anon (10/21/2012) [-]
Most athiests actually blame religion in general, not just christians. Christians just come up more often because its the major religion of the western world
#193 - kook (10/21/2012) [-]
ok...but hobohome didn't say anything about other religions in his argument so bringing the wars of other religions into the argument doesn't work

How many thoughts travel through your head while you masturbate?

Of all those thoughts some probably (not necessarily clear thoughts mind you) have faces of those faces most of them are people you have already seen, you're masturbating to them.

You are not masturbating to them, because these random faces do not turn us on.

What's going through my head as I masturbate is the porn I'm watching, and not much else.
