Yeah, I'm sure some covert stuff will happen and I'm sure we have more reasons to take military action than just the chemical weapons, but that doesn't have anything to do with whether or not the general consensus is being reached based on a huge misunderstanding of what we actually plan on doing and whose backing us and for what reasons.

We aren't doing anything in Georgia because Russia is a huge power and international player. It's a lot different. Also, a land grab and using nerve gas on your own civilians isn't the same situation. I'm not familiar enough with the situation to make any comments on it besides that.

The reason we don't intervene EVERYWHERE is because we can't. We don't have the manpower or the capital for such a thing. We have to pick our battles and Syria's long and bloody civil war is a good pick. It's in a key region, there's chemical weapons involved, and there's an organized group that can actually take over if Assad is removed. Also, could you point out examples of this Muslim purging? The most recent event I can think of is the gassing of the Kerds in Iraq, but that was before we came in. Also, we do a lot of stuff in Africa. It's just mainly through the U.N which gets most of its funding from the U.S. There are also other groups like NATO and an African equivalent that handle things there as well.

I'd like to see where the Syrian rebels are asking us not to give them aid. You should be able to find it again much more easily than I'll find it for the first time.

Are you talking about cold war Afghanistan? I assume that you are because we were never pretending not to be going balls to the wall in 2001. (At least I'm almost 100% sure, but I was pretty young at the time.) Because there was no Afghan invasion in the cold war, we just supplied training and weapons to the Mujahideen.

Now, before you say Bin Laden, just remember that we also fired cruise missiles in to Libya and that went pretty well. I'm assuming that we'll be taking out some key military installations and letting the rebels do what they'll do. That assumption is, so far, supported by what the president is saying and trying to get congress on board with.

well, the Russians invaded i mean
but teh whole civil war vs a country invading thing is just a detail
and im not talking about bin laden, since that guy was a paki
im more refenceig the whole
government killing its own people, then america "intervening" and doing some shady shit
i mean tons of massacres and shit goes on day to day
why do we care about Syria when we didnt give a crap when Russia made a land grab at Georgia, shit wasn't even on the news
lets not even bring up africa
or the Muslim in fighting going on in some parts of the middle east where they are purging certain types of muslim
i mean if the media isnt reporting on any of that
why is our old goverment making people look at syria and nothing else
just like we have been for a long time
im guessing we are doing some shady shit
maybe making another puppet nation, although that is just a guess with no evidence and nothing more, you cant say "we should help" when we ignore much worse shit ona daily basis
nope i aint buying what Obama is selling, and to top it off if you look it up
civies are protesting in Syria against US aid
so Syrian sivies dont want it, Syria's asswipe government doesn't want it
but america does and if that doesnt smell like shit to you i dont know what does

I watch a little bit of everything though, from One Piece to something like Usagi Drop. From Blood Lad to Chihayafaru. I know Naruto is flawed but it's got lots of good points.
