Exactly. The only reason we haven't wiped them out already is because China keeps bailing them out of trouble, just like they did in 1951.

No, it wouldn't, which is why no country has yet. They may have old tech, but they are dug in, have a large standing military, and a fanatical populace. Same thing can be said of ISIS or other extremist groups, the difference is extremist groups don't have the backing of a well funded military or a ready to fight civilian population numbering in the millions.

Russians in Afghanistan and Americans in Vietnam showed that it's not necessarily the most advanced army that wins.
Of course NK would lose after some time vs. Nations like US, China or Russia. But it would be an extremely costly win.
Most of their soldiers and of the population are as much or even more indoctrinated as the Japanese till WW2. They have 25.000.000 inhabitants. Imagine only 10% being as persistent as Hiroo Onoda that fought (and killed) till 1974 because he didn't believe in the peace.

The pacific war with Japan was an entirely different circumstance. North Korea is a small isolationist country that could be easily destroyed and subjugated with minimal loss due to their limited technology and relatively small land mass.
Japan at the time of WWII was becoming a mechanized superpower and had tech on par with tech of the time. Even after the hard-earned win the only reason that there was still resistance was because of the many different islands that required searching for Japanese soldiers. Literally hundreds of small islands were used.
Saying 'Hide and Seek' is the same as 'Whack-A-Mole' is just silly.

I'm not comparing the Pacific war to a war with North Korea.
I'm saying they would be just as persistent as the Japanese.
Like the "I'll rather fight to death with a sword because I'm out of ammo than surrender" kind of persistent.
There's a reason there weren't that much Japanese POW compared Hi compared! to other countries

What I'm saying is that, regardless of their persistence, it would do little to stop them from losing. They're simply too far behind in terms of military force, and troop morale would most likely go down a very deep hole once they saw modern aircraft raze military installations in seconds.
