That's a very noble goal, and I would salute you for it. But you have to understand that other people have their lives, their perspectives, and they might not be so into doing what's right, especially when the right and the wrong in this debate is very subjective. And it's not a guarantee that a debate would ruin her reputation, perhaps she would be able to pull some connections to come out on top in the end, and that's also a risk that not everyone is willing to make. For example, if we believe some sources we've seen on here, some of the interview footage was cut out, and it seemed like a lot of it was about Anita getting beaten in the debate, but it was not aired, perhaps we could suspect that there are some connections at work here?

Or he could have not interviewed her alone in the first place and pitted rogan or someone against that dumb cunt and watch her get her shit stomped in.
#39 - hejlate (11/02/2014) [-]
As several other people have pointed out in various different threads, calling her out would possibly not yield good results. Sadly I currently do not see what the most appropriate course of action would be. Sarkeesian is a manipulator, and she does it well, she abuses her ability to play the victim and easily gets sympathetic people on her side. She is an icon, a face to various groups with her show and she can get the media attention easier that way. If she's denied the attention she can cry "oppression", if she gets stomped in an interview she could claim "male infested media". Perhaps calling her out is the way to slow her down the most, but the outcome is also the least predictable, as stated earlier, there are people's jobs, daily lives and reputation at risk here.

I mean to be honest I thought Colbert (being the liberal he is) was taking Sarkeesian's side.

And yet online statistics actually showed that positive support for GamerGate almost doubled within a single day of that episode airing... I wonder why...?

I'm not aware of those? Could you provide a source of these statistics? How do we know they are positive? What kind of support did the gamergate receive? What qualifies as support? In what way is it positive?

If your first comment was a clever reference to the video, I do not quite follow my friend. If it was a genuine comment, then it's a little difficult to discuss. Notice that in my first comment I never referred to the masses, the audience, as unintelligent. That's the whole point, the masses are not necessarily stupid, it's just that there are so many different views and opinions that it becomes complete and utter chaos in society when you don't know who is right and who is wrong. Yes there are stupid people with stupid decisions, but there are a lot of people who are simply uninformed. We simply exclude certain people as intelligent because they are well organized and their ideas and/or behavior is efficient. And I'm going to get burned in the biggest fire comparable to the great fire of London, but by all these ideas, Anita is not stupid. Yes we don't like what she says, they contradict each other, they lack solid arguments and some sort of backup, however to the ones that do not know any better, she is an icon, and she exploits that well, using it to further her agenda. Basically, she is cunning, she knows how to exploit the unsuspecting masses to take her side by appearing as someone who knows what she's talking about, and she's good at it. And we cannot blame the masses either, because if you don't care much about the issue, then you're gonna lean to the closest source of information that seems valid to you, because there's plenty of other issues to take care of. Ofc there are many other factors that goes into this, but that would take up a lot more than 2000 characters to describe.

TL;DR: The masses are not necessarily stupid, they lack information, motivation and time to look deeper into this, and Anita is good at exploiting that. Intelligence is subjective to one's personal beliefs and ideals (last sentence is debatable).
User avatar #25 - checkemtrain (11/02/2014) [-]
Well,1 stupid person with a gun could easily beat 1 intelligent person as well.

Smart people can't say anything because the stupid people would get mad.If colbert said he supported gamergate then I guarantee you more than half the people who know about it will get unbelievably butthurt.

Which is why him being intelligent matters. He didn't say that. He made it clear to intelligent people. Once ALL the intelligent people are aware, we'll have a good number of supporters in positions of power

#36 - hejlate (11/02/2014) [-]
You raise good points, while the general populace may not always act recklessly, there are certain individuals who would go out of line for one reason and another. Those kind of people are the biggest threat, they may be unstable or unpredictable, but also extremely cunning (like my 2nd comment Anita) and know ways to manipulate the misinformed to bring down the reputation of certain individuals. Social issues are risky business, and people need to be well prepared to face the consequences. If Colbert openly mocked her during the interview, the consequences may have been dire for him, he took the safer route and still managing to put some food for thought for the people that care deeply about this issue. The problem is that not everyone will understand that.

[] Most shooting crimes are not committed by just any boys, but almost always by boys with severe mental retardation, mental illness, and depression, plus come from a broken home. It's mental illness and fatherless homes that are to blame, not "toxic masculinity".

And the reason why girls tend not do it and tend not to commit overt violent crimes is that girls and women engage in something called "proxy violence", meaning they don't do it themselves, they get a man to do it. If anything proxy violence is more insidious and more immoral than regular violence because it's harder to detect the real culprit who is more likely to go unpunished.
Women also engage in social aggression: holding grudges for years, gossiping and destroying their enemies' reputations, falsely accusing men of rape/abuse/harassment (which is immensely destructive to his life).

Also, over 92% of convicts in prison come from fatherless, matriarchal, single-mother broken homes.

Why you hating on Dan Bull?
#2 to #1 - hejlate ONLINE (11/05/2013) [-]
Just don't see him as that good of the artist, his lyrics are not that "pumping" and his voice seems very monotonous to me, from what I've heard his songs are very similar because of that. Basically his music is just not my cup of tea and I disagreed with the statement that he deserves much more recognition as a youtube musician. Sorry if my opinion has offended you and I can thumb back up if you'd like me to.
User avatar #3 to #2 - honkan (11/05/2013) [-]
I'll have to disagree, but then again I've never been that picky about my music. I just listen to what I like without thinking much about the details. Dan just impress me as a person and I like almost all of his song. I'm curious about the similar comment. As far as I can remember his songs are pretty diverse, lots of different stuff.
No need to worry about the thumbs, they are a way to express a opinion. It just struck me as some random hate when you didn't leave a comment.
