Alright, well my suggestion for the cooking and foreign language is to try out the library. It sounds kinda corny, but I've met some pretty cool people at the library by my house. Plus libraries are the best place to go to learn something in my opinion.
As for the firearms, you're 16, I can't imagine you have too much freedom to do as you please with them so you won't be hitting up any shooting ranges or joining any firearm associations any time soon, but I could be wrong idk what country you live in.
And hiking and camping are pretty good hobbies for solitude actually...so I wouldn't really try to meet people with that common interest lol.
As for the gaming, I have plenty of really good friends on Xbox live that I don't even physically know, but I've known some on Xbox for 3+ years and we're friends on facebook and all that nonsense. Some people wouldn't call them "real" friends but I trust them and have a good time with them so I don't really care.

Ah. Well I can totally understand how homeschooling would but a damper on making friends. What are some of your hobbies/ interests?
#4396 - hahalmao (06/17/2012) [-]
I love cooking. I don't get to do it much on my own, but when I do it's usually Asian/Japanese food. Other than that I like anime gaming and all that stuff. I'm interested in learning Japanese or Korean, firearms, I also like hiking/camping even though I'm not a very athletic person.

all great options, but just keep this in mind, no matter how weird and awkward you are there is always a group of people just like you that you would fit in great with. Just try and it will work soon enough.
#4048 - fangblood (06/16/2012) [-]
I agree with the others in that you should get involved in something. But i'm assuming you'd be that socially awkward kid on the team/group or whatever. Don't worry if you are. You'll get past that eventually as long as you keep getting out there.
User avatar #4036 - bobbybeats (06/16/2012) [-]
Music lessons, you'll meet some of the looniest, but yet awesome people you'll ever meet in your life.
#4027 - N. Korean citizen (06/16/2012) [-]
I'll second the get involved with stuff option. Picking up hobbies is a great way to meet people. Martial Arts, Sports (football, skating, gymnastics, etc), Dancing, Gaming (go down to a local gamestore, hang out with people.)

Take classes at a local community center, community college, just do stuff that will take you out of the house and interacting with people. It'll make you a more interesting person on top of actually meeting people who are also interesting.
User avatar #4020 - Campbellssoup (06/16/2012) [-]
Best option would to not be home schooled but if that's not an option: Get involved in stuff. Get involved in sports and stuff like that and try and make friends with some of the people you do it with and branch out from there
