To say it was an exciting match would be for me a lie, yes. But some are some aren't, just like every other sport.

Hell, people pay to watch golf, so it could have been worse.

True, but Mayweather won, that was his goal. Not to be the audiences people. He walked into the ring to win. You can't get upset with him for that. It's called boxing, not brawling.
User avatar #69 - PlagueDoctor (05/03/2015) [-]
What on earth are you talking about?! Eventhough I was rooting for Pacman, Mayweather was clearly better. He wasn't "running away" or "chickening out" he was being extremely tactical and clever in his game. These guys are not a pair of bucks who should run into eachother untill one of them collapses. Mayweather's victory was deserved.

dodging, blocking and avoiding being punched in the face is as tactical as it gets, broski
User avatar #99 - cumfartz (14 hours ago) [-]
do you really think that was a good fight? it was shitty. And Floyd got punched in the face a fair few times BY A MAN WITH ONLY ONE WORKING ARM.
Mayweather.

Hell yeah it was shitty and boring to watch!
User avatar #101 - cumfartz (14 hours ago) [-]
but you don't agree that floyd is a massive pussyboi
User avatar #102 - PlagueDoctor (14 hours ago) [-]
Nope, he won the match tactically with minimal losses.
User avatar #103 - cumfartz (14 hours ago) [-]
that's not how a self-professed "best boxer ever" is meant to win his rounds though.
User avatar #104 - PlagueDoctor (14 hours ago) [-]
I don't think so either, but that's beside the point.
User avatar #105 - cumfartz (14 hours ago) [-]
I don't think so. An entertainer must deliver etc. etc. etc.
on a side note- it's funny how amir khan thinks he can beat him.
User avatar #106 - PlagueDoctor (13 hours ago) [-]
Yeah he should, but he had to play safe here, it was quite an important fight. He took no chances, and when for the surefire strategy. Before you ask, Pacman is still my fav of the two.
But yeah, I don't really know a lot about Khan, but the only thing he's got going for him is that he's younger. Hooray? Mayweather is probably going to whipe the floor with him.
Btw, I don't think floyd is tbe, but that's me.
User avatar #65 - bagguhsleep (05/03/2015) [-]
mayweather isn't a good fighter, but he's an excellent boxer

if he lands a good punch in the first 30 seconds of the round, he's perfectly happy getting a few jabs in and playing extremely defensively for the rest of it because he knows he'll get the point

it sucks to watch, but he's playing by the rules perfectly
#55 - anotherotherguy (05/03/2015) [-]
The point of Mayweathers strategy for the fight was to play defense. He was a taller man with longer reach. He wanted to make Paquiao come to him where he could then poke and prod and counter Paquiao and his attempts to break in.

At the end he recognized that he didnt beat the shit of of Manny but he did know that he didnt let Manny get the best of him for the majority of the fight. There were 4 rounds depended on which judge you asked where Manny was able to get a decent amount of good blows in. But that means there were 8 rounds where Manny was unable to really do anything against Floyd.

Now take a step back and think about this logically. A team is on offense and B team is on defense. 9/10 times B team is able to defend against A teams attacks. Who is the overall better team?

Its the same concept. Manny was on the offense but because he didn't do a good job of it, the judges deemed Floyd the better boxer.

Yea knockouts are cool as shit but they dont really happen that often. Even Floyd had only like 18 KOs out of all 48 wins he has had, who is widely considered (as you know) a fantastic boxer.

You make very fair points, and you're correct. But it doesn't mean it was an entertaining fight worth the price of it.

#58 - Ken M (05/03/2015) [-]

cant say that i blame him.

i wouldnt want to get hit by Manny either.

especially if i had the money / bitches / big ego that Floyd already has.

User avatar #47 - thebluejakel (05/03/2015) [-]
Most fucked up part is that from everything I watched Manny landed way more hits but they still gave it to fucking mayweather.
#77 - Ken M (05/03/2015) [-]
Actually Mayweather landed somewhere over 140 hits on Manny, as opposed to the over 80 Manny landed. A lot of Mayweather's hits were to the head too, with 72 landing on one side of Manny's head, and 42 on the other, where as Manny got less than 30 total hits to Mayweather's head the entire match.
#78 - slayzo (05/03/2015) [-]
Damn internet keeps logging me out of funnyjunk.
User avatar #66 - didactus (05/03/2015) [-]
Landing hits don't matter if they are blocked. Anyone who has actually sparred or gone actual boxing/muay thai fights will know that blocks don't mean shit. I should know, I've gone several matches in MT and have hundreds upon hundreds of ours in sparring. I'm not saying defending all shots that you get upon you grants you the victory but if you can block and counter everything your opponent has you win because you have a successful defense and manage to strike back unlike your opponent.
#56 - anotherotherguy (05/03/2015) [-]
They count the hits in boxing on a per round basis. Not only did Mayweather keep up in the amount of punches thrown, he had more hits landed. Paquiao had again roughly the same amount attempted but a lot less actually connected over the course of the whole match.

It just looked like Manny was doing better because he would get Floyd into a corner and wail but most of the time it wasnt that effective.

On the other hand Floyd's shots were generally better placed.

I saved all that childhood shit. Obelisk still sits in a little wooden box next to my fire deck.

Gravekeepers were cool too. I DID have that deck. I remember when I was a kid just making all sorts of decks that were really fun even if they weren't that good. Then after high school I decided to get back into it and I realized how much more fun it was as a kid cause people weren't using like $500 decks and being super serious about a card game lol.
