I got into it around christmas last year, and I love it and am into it. Only took me a few weeks to watch the doctors 9-11 and plan to someday watch the earlier ones. It's never to late.
#39 - iamlying (06/08/2013) [-]
>Waited too long.
Excluding original series,
>13 episodes a season + one Christmas special.
>98 episodes (roughly).
>73.5 hours.
>Next doctor who episode is in November.

Bitch, Get on my level.

Yes, the sucking of dildos in the shape of Steve jobs is mandatory.

I highly recommend Doctor Who, its definitely in my top 3 TV shows. I hear a lot of people say they've tried it and couldn't get into it, but honestly the first couple episodes kinda blow. I'd still recommend watching the 9th doctor (there are people who skip him, and frankly, they are missing out). If the pilot/first season is too painful to watch, skip ahead. (Its not that bad, the show just didn't have the greatest budget initially, and the pilot has pretty terrible special effects.) Just wait, it gets SO much better.

nonono, never to late. start with the newer episodes (so the new season 1) if you wanna do the short path

Nonsense. True, it's a huge backlog, but it's not a race or assignment.
Just grab the new series starting in 2005 with Christopher Eccleston as Doctor and take it from there.

Watched season 1 episode 1 (2005), but was so bored that I don't think I'll ever touch it again.

Boring pilot is never a good selling point for me.
Can anyone convince me to keep watching?

Pic not related, unless you want it to be

You can start with Tennant's first episode (Christmas Invasion) or Smith's (Eleventh Hour) if you don't like the Ninth Doctor very much. If you wanna give him another try, try "The Empty Child" and "The Doctor Dances" two-parter.

I completely disagree, the 9th Doctor shows you how even the doctor and all the good acts he does can have knock on effects. It also shows you how different each doctor is, especially after the regeneration and it introduces all the characters that are more important in the 10th Doctor's seasons. It is only one season.

I sorta meant he could watch the others to get a feel for the show and then come back and watch the rest of Nine after he knows whether he likes the show or not. I should have been more clear, cause I agree with you, and Nine is probably my favorite.

A couple of series that got me hooked because of the Pilot are:
Better off Ted
Breaking Bad
The Wire
Dead Like Me
The Walking Dead

and many more that I can't think of right now

That entire episode was a single wtf-moment for me.
It gets better in a hurry, though, setting is expanded into a unique atmosphere, characters grow on you and so on.

Just give it another try, if only to be sure it's not for you.

The sjow itself, though boring at the start and seemingly childish has possibly some of the most underwhelming special effects and pathetic costumes I've ever seen!

However, I watched through it anyway and I'm glad because the maturity it has in it's subplots and the fact that death is often a constant factor make it really very good. The feels can get pretty damn intense.......
#56 - GRBanimefreak (06/08/2013) [-]
Umm have you looked at the last two seasons? The effects have drastically increase in quality ( largely due to the fact that the American fan base is exploding, and demands quality effects and gives BBC the income they need to create them)
#54 - condormcninja (06/08/2013) [-]
I don't get how the costumes are pathetic. The weeping angels are make-up and costumes, so are the Sontarans, and they made this shit in the 70s.

The villains and aliens are supposed to look weird and alien as shit, and the costumes do that very well.
#37 - headhunternl (06/08/2013) [-]
Fine, ill give it another go

Find an episode of Tennant's called 'The Girl in the Fireplace'. That'll change your mind.

A few years ago, i watched the first few episodes of the 2005 series, i thought it was shit and stopped... But last year, i watched it again and I'm glad I did. Some people would get mad about this.. But, skip the 9th doctor completely.

#47 - quinos (06/08/2013) [-]
While I don't agree with the whole 9th is the best thing and all simply because I don't like to start arguments, I strongly suggest no one skips 9 because he has a lot of important story, if you skip 9 you'll miss out on VERY important stuff
(No spoilers ahead don't worry)
You won't know who Captain Jack is and it'll be weird how they introduce him again
You won't know what happens to Rose.
You won't learn about the Daleks till MUCH later in the show.
Point is...you'll miss a lot.

old enough to go to the store (meaning having the ability to drive. 16 in u.s.a.) old enough to get bred (this has two meanings. it means accepting a males sperm, or purchasing bread) no rhyme needed since it is a crude double entendre which makes the joke.
