If they actually sold well then you have an actual response. If they were so enjoyable they would have good game sales.
User avatar #417 - grrphc (09/26/2014) [-]
I can't believe I'm fucking replying to this bait.
The quality of the game has nothing to do with the sales you fucking mongol.
Of course Call of Duty has more sales. That shit is on Wii U, PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, PC and Xbox One compared to my list of sole exclusives.

They are great games.
I'm done here.
#421 - mr skeltal (09/26/2014) [-]
Who the fuck is talking about cod? Quality of the game has everything to do with sales you retard. Most of those titles dont even hit 1 million and those that do are the usual remade game series(the irony is delicious)
User avatar #422 - grrphc (09/26/2014) [-]
Wrong anon, same concept.
If someone makes the most delicious sandwich in the world, regardless if anyone buys it or has it, it still exists. It's still the quality that it is despite not having the fame.

Sales have nothing to do with quality "you retard". Titles don't need sales to be good games, that's all marketing you fucking mongol.
#424 - mr skeltal (09/26/2014) [-]
Then the most delicious sandwich is not famous then the sandwich must not be the greatest. Especially since the most delicious sandwich would be famous guaranteed. Same with games. If they were so great people would actually buy the wii u and the games.

That's also wrong, though. He was talking about murder being legal, and then the idea of horrible thoughts led to the "of course, but maybe" bit.

And if he didn't say it like how it is in the OP, then obviously it wasn't part of the "of course, but maybe" bit. But if it's not part of that bit, why is it in that format instead of the original way he said it?

This is just a case of someone using the "of course, but maybe" bit as a way to share their unpopular opinion in an alternative fashion (ie, not using the puffin or the bear). He never said this. And if he did say this, I'd like you to show me a video of him saying it.

Jared Milton was after Jessi Slaughter, and so was Sarkesian. No fucks given there. And those are just the names I can mention on top of my head. The whole persecution thing started simultaneously as Gamergate, and that's no coincidence.

Also, stated in the rules:

You will not post any of the following outside of /b/: Trolls, flames, racism, off-topic replies, uncalled for catchphrases, macro image replies, indecipherable text (example: "lol u tk him 2da bar|?"), anthropomorphic ("furry") or grotesque ("guro") images, post number GETs ("dubs"), or loli/shota pornography.

Shitposting doesn't apply to /b/, hence the discussions regarding Gamergate are not breaking the rules unless it's a call to raid. And there have been very few of those in total.

Fucks were definitely given. Even during Jessi Slaughter.

Again, the rules have rarely been enforced. Jared Milton, Jessi Slaughter, and even Anita Sarkesian have previously been targeted for weeks without anyone lifting their finger. Those rules were more symbolic than an actual guideline.

That being said, closing threads calling to raids would be justified. Issue is, everything Gamergate is silenced. Everything. Anything from posting pictures of Zoe Quinn with profiled members of video gaming journalism industry to asking what Gamergate is all about. In worst of cases, I was in a thread on /b/ recently about favorite pornstars. Following took place:

Anon1: Sasha Grey is so damn cute I'd drag my balls across 10 feet of broken glass just to hug her

Anon2: You know she's fucked like half the industry?

Anon1: Didn't stop 5 guys with Zoe Quinn.

All in all there's nothing wrong with this. Talking shit about people has been a long-time 4chan tradition. Was the comment deleted? No. The whole thread was. After a few 'top kek' replies to the comment it was all dead. Nobody called for a raid, it was just plain shittalk. And the mods sunk the ship to kill the captain.

And Jared Milton was any different? Of course they have rules, they were just rarely enforced. As for Gamergate discussions, I've been in numerous threads where the discussion has been civil, with evidence and arguments as to why the whole segment of video game journalism was corrupt, yet they were closed within very short time spans. No calls to raid, no personal information, no nothing. And even if you look through 4chan today and look for Gamergate threads, there are virtually none. 4chan is fully capable of being civil when they have to, but now their opportunity is squandered by endless censoring of the topic.

#123 - comradewinter (09/23/2014) [-]
Except it's not. Threads on 4chan regarding the censoring are being censored. Which is what gave way for 8chan's increase in traffic. Most threads remain untouched, but the fact that any involvement in raids and otherwise bullshitspreading are being severily repressed makes the forum lose its identity.
User avatar #128 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
Of course it is, because 4Chan has rules.
They wouldn't have gotten censored if they actually talked about the problems instead of turning it into one big circlejerk of
>DDOS HER!
>ORDER PIZZAS TO HER HOUSE
>FIND HER ADDRESS AND LETS KICK HER ASS
Every. Fucking. Time.
And even after that Moot told them full and well where they could actually discuss the issues at hand, but again, this all wraps around to you just parroting what you hear on other websites as if they're facts.

The only reason that this is a bigger deal than it was is because 4Chan is much more infamous now and Gamergate has far outgrown it, so any news is at least nationwide news.
Shitposting doesn't apply to /b/, but the rules still do. "Calls to Raid" has been the rule all the mods have been spouting because any interaction that starts dealing with the outside world instead of just online counts, and that's what every thread always lead to.

You made me doubt myself even though I have seen the special several times, so I opened up the video and checked.

I was right. He didn't say it. He had three "of course, but maybe" bits: one was about nut allergies, one was about going to other countries and getting shot, and one was about slavery. Nothing about foreigners coming and taking our jobs.
User avatar #57 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
That is a completely different stand up video, dude. But I know the one you're talking about.
This is from "Hilarious"
What you're talking about is from "Oh My God"
User avatar #64 - ZenMacros (09/23/2014) [-]
The bit in the OP is not from "Hilarious." If it were, the pics would have a red curtain backdrop. But they're from "Oh My God" because they have the dark lighting, just like in that special. Besides, he only does the "of course, but maybe" bit in "Oh My God," and those three topics I mentioned were the only ones he did in it.
User avatar #70 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
Just because the text doesn't match the picture doesn't mean he didn't say this.
User avatar #69 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
This wasn't from his "Of course, but Maybe" skit though.
He was just talking about illegal immigration and then it lead to this
User avatar #71 - ZenMacros (09/23/2014) [-]

I've been on 4chan since 2006, so it suffices to say you're the one making baseless assumptions here.
User avatar #122 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
People who have been usually don't feel the need to say so.
But I'll bite.
Nothing's changed, nothing whatsoever has changed. Only outside websites claim that things have changed.
/tv/ has always talked in such a way about their shows because that's what /tv/ is. Analyzing TV shows like it's their jobs.

Case in point: Gamergate. 4chan would usually throw themselves at the discussion, but any attempt to mention it has been silenced. Anything of the same magnitude has never been suppressed in the past.
#130 - comradewinter (09/23/2014) [-]
And Jared Milton was any different? Of course they have rules, they were just rarely enforced. As for Gamergate discussions, I've been in numerous threads where the discussion has been civil, with evidence and arguments as to why the whole segment of video game journalism was corrupt, yet they were closed within very short time spans. No calls to raid, no personal information, no nothing. And even if you look through 4chan today and look for Gamergate threads, there are virtually none. 4chan is fully capable of being civil when they have to, but now their opportunity is squandered by endless censoring of the topic.
User avatar #132 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
Because it's against the rules now, plain and simple.
If you tell a child "You can play in the park, but don't go on the slide" and he keeps getting on the fucking slide every time you take him, you don't trust him to do the same, you take away the park as a whole.
They aren't fully capable of shit because they have no self-control and now they're acting like tempered children because they're getting their actions' reaction.
#134 - comradewinter (09/23/2014) [-]

User avatar #136 - grrphc (09/23/2014) [-]
Jessi Slaughter is the bane of 4Chan's existence.
That WHOLE era is what made Moot tighten down on the rules so hard.
You bringing up shit post-new rule is irrelevant. Talking about it isn't allowed anymore because they couldn't handle it. The end.
#138 - comradewinter (09/23/2014) [-]
