| exclusives won't exist anymore anyhow if the only reason to buy a console is a game, that doesn't mean the console is good, that means the game is good, and that game can easily be put on PC Any company who makes exclusives are assholes towards other console/pc gamers. Other people want to play games too. Also, if nobody used consoles, you wouldn't even have exclusives. #80

alsohaschel (05/23/2013) [-] With the progression of consoles marching on and becoming more and more like PC's while PC's acquire more things other devices in the home already do, it's eventually just going to come down to which can do the most simultaneously without interruption when switching between. Even TV's are becoming more like computers with internet accessible TV's you can plug a webcam into and skype with, or stream from netflix. With the original reason consoles existed steadily becoming non-existent it won't be more than 15 years before consoles and all other home entertainment systems are simply replaced by computers. There's actually designs for ann as of yet un-named house wide system where a server is connected by wifi to a houses media systems and tv, movies, music ect.. and allows access to all a persons or families stored media to be accessed from any room in the house. PC's will replace consoles because no matter how hard a console tries a PC will be able to do it better with more accuracy and more flexibility and it will be modifiable as technology changes. As for exclusives. I find that exclusives arnt all that great, more often than not they are just average games cloaked in the exclusivity of only being available to one console or another leading it to appear to be better than it is by virtue of scarcity. For every exclusive title there are 30 games available to every platform that are just as good if not better. last thing, PC game more often than not allow for modding by the community, which allows for rather expedient fixes to problems or game designs the creators may not be keen to fix quickly if at all. not to mention modding communities can upgrade games along with technology giving you games that are years old that somehow look like they were made int he future. I feel that is by far the most valuable thing to any gaming platform, and is another reason console gaming is coming to an end. #55

thewafflearmeh (05/23/2013) [-] Now that consoles are trying to do too much, they're becoming much too like PC's, and, using the money it takes to get one, you could build a decent gaming rig and have access to so much more stuff. And, I'm not overly Heartbroken over Not playing Halo or Uncharted on my PC. Because I have hundreds, if not thousands of other, less marketed games with decent prices i can play. Not to mention MMO's, etc. I'm not saying that console gaming is inferior to PC gaming, but the newer consoles are kind of defeating the purpose of console gaming to begin with. xbox /ps3 about £299 . Pc. over 1k for a decent one. Unles youre a really hardcore gamer and rich not everone can afford to pay that for a pc, and with the money i saved from not buying one payed for my ps3 and xbox and a years worth of games. and since 2006 - 2007 i have not had to pay for any upgrades or anything like you do with the pc #180

thewafflearmeh (05/23/2013) [-] You can get a very decent rig for roughly $500-600 US, if you're not buying straight from a company like alienware. And, that's my point, really. Consoles are supposed to be cheap and simplistic. you pop a game in and go. Consoles are becoming multimedia Devices, and, in that respect, will never hold up to a PC. Console gaming is FINE, by all means, but the companies don't understand that simple consoles are better. Out of all of this Gen's consoles, the WII-U is probably the only one that really still sticks to that idea. acctually consoles came before the pc, they were a home entertainment system. pc, personal computer "Consoles were made because people wanted an Inexpensive, Simple way to play games outside of PC gaming. That's why they were originally a thing to begin with. " the gaming console came before the pc. The first home-bound 'console', excluding arcade cabinets; Magnavox Odyssey, Circa 1972, was indeed released just a smidgen before the true personal Computer was popularized. However, to be fair, The Odyssey did very poorly, until Pong came around, and the Odyssey 100 was released, to cater to it. The First computer to be loosely considered a PC would be the Xerox Alto, Circa 1973. So, i apologize, you were correct, if only Marginally. Still, console gaming, when taken from the perspective of the NES and the Atari 2600, was considered a cheaper alternative to Computer games. so, it's a matter for some debate, i guess. #108

N. Korean citizen (05/23/2013) [-] A lot of people who buy consoles that are working hard hours and aren't very passionate about gaming, really don't care about these super advanced PC's and just want to play something. PC are the way to go if your gonna be gaming for awhile and frequently, but most already have basic computers or laptops, and just want a certain piece of technology for gaming. I don't want consoles to die, but if building a pc becomes as simple as buying a console, then we will see the masses flock to pcs or whatever they evolve into. #113

thewafflearmeh (05/23/2013) [-] I agree with you completely, which is WHY the Xbox One is going to be horrible. They're making it the exact opposite of what it's supposed to be; A simple, Cheap gaming machine. With the Always Online, the clusterfuck of stupid features, new bulky controllers, and the Mandatory used game fees, it's going to be very intimidating to users who just want to pop in a disc and go. The fact is, at this rate, if consoles keep going down this road their on, PC's WILL become easier to use than Consoles. which is why I'm wanting a WiiU, it's a game console, GAME console! I never understood the "exclusive" argument. That's great an all, but we can still run games from 20 years ago as long as we can find them... And we have every indie developer making games for us - Don't Starve isn't on the Xbox or Playstation last time I checked. Or the multiplayer thing - since most laptops and desktops now support bluetooth out of the box. And have better support for normal USB plug-ins. As we well, we have Steam & the ability to host our games on our own machines. Just my two bits. #66

icygames (05/23/2013) [-] Infamous second son <-- Because I loved the first two and they became my favorite games of all time. Playing with friends. From time to time playing together with my friend can be fun if we have the right game to play. Other games my PC probably can't handle. I'd rather buy the Ps4 and play all the new fancy games coming out (exclusives or not) rather than buy a PC rig because I have pretty good laptop for most pc games I play. tl;dr everyone has their reasons, some games are worth the console buy even if you won't use the console very much besides one or two other things. Most of the social features in xbox one are tv and netflix etc. Stuff that probably won't work in europe so I think the Ps4 is superior unless you have access to all that extra stuff. | ||

grrphc (05/23/2013) [-] Ahh. Well, if you do decide to get Second Son, the recap would be -SUPER ULTRA MEGA SPOILERS- >Cole MacGrath gets superpowers from a bomb >Potential Super Powered people are called Conduits >The Ray Sphere (bomb) activated all potential conduits in his city, bringing new crime >Cole isn't exactly happy with his power (electricity) since it becomes difficult to bathe, he can't ride in a car or hold a gun, and it's just a stressful pain in the ass >His girlfriend dumps him, so he tries to do heroic deeds to impress her and get her back >Meets a man in all white named Kessler, a time traveler. Tells Cole he'll fight him when he's ready >Cole trains, helping the city, beating up other active conduits >HIs best friend (Zeke) betrays him by giving Kessler another Ray Sphere to amplify his powers, in return for getting powers of his own >Kessler lied to Zeke, lost the Ray Sphere, Kills Cole's girlfriend, Cole found the Ray Sphere and detonated it giving him another boost of powers >Cole and Kessler fight, Cole wins. Kessler shows him visions of his path, showing him that he is Cole from an alternate timeline and he needs to prepare for a terrible conduit coming. Codename: The Beast That's inFamous one in a nutshell. Sounds compelling enough. Will try out before the sequel is released. #60
