N. Korean citizen (16 hours ago) [-] Yeah they really aren't too bad Dark Souls wise, just be careful there are four of them and aggroing them all is a bad idea, and good luck against Nito, better still have a divine weapon.

| That's not a paradox, there is nothing contradicting itself, this is what's known as a loop, perfectly rational and time continues unaltered. But he had to go back in time to become energy and then strike himself to get the powers, but to go back in time he would have to already have those powers and to have them he would have to receive them from himself. How is that not a paradox? Because there is no contradiction, a loop has no begining and no end, it always has been. A paradox would be if he did something to prevent himself from ever getting his powers. If he didn't have powers he wouldn't be able to travel back to stop himself, thus being able to acquire powers- a contradiction in time. Think of a string performing a lopp-de-loop, Flash is born, he gets hit by lightning. Becomes flash, goes back in time and turns out he's the lightning. But I feel like there is a contradiction,he can't get his powers unless he already has his powers He gets his powers from his future. Let's think of them as two totally different people (even though they're not). He gets it from his future self, giving it to his past self. Kind of like passing it on to the next of kin, he passes it on to his past. #127

N. Korean citizen (05/21/2013) [-] It doesn't work like that, you must have that first step. It's like you were born because your future self did something and because of that your father met your mother. If there wasn't any first Blargosnarf, how the loop even started? How to solve this? Maybe your father met your mother later and you were born anyway. Some other Blargosnarf. Then you moved back to the past and started loop. From now your parents are together because of you. So maybe something like that happened to first Flash - he got his power somehow (NOT because of lighting) and started the loop. Second Flash got his power from lighting (1st Flash) and so on... Boom, no more paradox. And sorry for bad english Exactly, that's what a time loop is, no definite start and causes actions of the future that therin influence the past. I'm not saying it's a factual theory, I'm just saying how the theory works. But humans are born and grow up to be men, not pop up out of nowhere. Unless the flash has been doing this ever since the beginning of time, it doesn't work. The rest of your argument is sound, though. I'm choosing not to get into that argument, I believe time is linear and I'll happily debate that at another time, I'm just saying that unless flash is inhuman, he must have had some origin and therefore is not infinite. The whole concept of having an infinite number of universes makes sense, every decision changes the universe, and there is an equal number of universes for each decision, which is infinity. I don't agree with actually accepting this as a practical theory, sure I could change the whole universe by doing something unlike my normal self and wear a green bowtie to school and changing the progress of time, but in the universe that we live and breathe in, the one that we don't jump to and from I wore a green bowtie and the effect was so and so. I'm essentially looking at the universe that we live in out of all the other possible universes within our timeline and that's our LINEAR progression of events. I also believe in fate, but in a weird way. By my theory, if we can look at this linear progression of events, or "timeline" and can look into the future (which is impossible, before we start making the argument that I can change my future if I know what it is, which is a solid argument) I will have already made every single decision in my life, and from my heavenly state where I can look at this timeline, I can see myself contemplate these decisions and then go to whichever decision I so chose. I'm saying that we control our decisions and our universe 100%, and that if we were to look ahead into the future we would see the one linear timeline or universe that we live in, and it will have all of the future decisions we will make and the future events we will experience. No problem, I really like the ability to discuss philosophy so freely on funnyjunk
