While America does lack in the historical department, they are one of the main powers in making the history of today. It's not a "whose dick is bigger" competition. Huge achievements were made in both Europe and the USA. Without either of them the world would not be what it is today.

Also, it seems to me that Americans are probably the most stereotyped of ALL nations. While in some regards they do live up to the reputation of fat stupid inbred rednecks, it might just be because those fat, stupid, inbred rednecks just get more media exposure in Europe.
