Had my first banana milkshake today. I blended in two bananas and a bit of milk, and I must say it was actually quite nice.
I would've made it without milk, but mum said it was necessary for helping the bananas to blend or something like that.
Thinkin' of you, bro
User avatar #135 to #134 - glycogen (09/01/2014) [-]
ditch the milk.
that **** is nasty.

Ripe bananas (spotty) blend up really well with just water.

User avatar #136 to #135 - creepydudewatching (09/01/2014) [-]
Is it normal for the banana shake to turn brown if left for a few minutes?
User avatar #137 to #136 - glycogen (09/01/2014) [-]
thats oxidation.

The trick is to pulse blend.
That way the banana smoothie does no get exposed to too much oxygen and will last for a good couple hours or more.

You can create variety by alternating between adding different sugars (coconut, cane, maple syrup...), sweet leaf drops (vanilla, mint, cinnamon...) and fresh/frozen fruit (blueberries, raspberries, mango....).

Damnit, I'm done with that thread, It was too long, i'm coming here. here is the link i'm talking about.

I like the idea of chips mate, what about fries? If I can do that, I'm set. I'd be able to cut out so much crap from my diet because I have something else I like to replace it. I'm still gonna eat meat though. But you gotta admit not eating bags of chips from the store is better than nothing.
User avatar #118 to #116 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
The oil is the difference between potatoes being healthy or not.

People think that there taste buds would never change. Just because they are craving something in that moment.

But a couple weeks on a low-fat low-sodium vegan diet and your taste buds are reborn.
And then you can actually decide what you want to eat and not be a slave to your cravings...

I say this because, baked potato chips are way more enjoyable than fries.
Fries could only be attractive if you frequently eat greasy and salty foods.

But you will find that the mouth feel of the baked potato is much nicer, the digestion easier and your blood will not be thick with oil.

I have experience with eating the worst foods imaginable. I got so sick I became open to a vegan lifestyle and it ended up saving my life.
User avatar #119 to #118 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
Right, is there a way to make fries without oil. Its not so much the oil that I like but the texture and shape. and the sodium
User avatar #121 to #119 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
also one of the best things you can do is buy a rice cooker.

They are cheap and so convenient.

User avatar #123 to #121 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
A rice cooker? why not just use a pot with water?
User avatar #126 to #123 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
You dont have to watch it when it cooks....

just way way easier...

You just dump in rice and water and come back to perfect rice...

The convenience factor encourages you to use it.. sometimes you just dont feel like standing over a stove
User avatar #127 to #126 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
Yeah, I hear you.
User avatar #120 to #119 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
the texture as in they are soft?

I am telling you the baked potato chips form a skin and taste amazing.
Especially when you use organic potatoes.

User avatar #122 to #120 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
I probably won't spend the money on organic potatoes, but I may start buying potatoes by the ton if I can turn them to chips.

I'm just saying, I love fries, come to think of it I can just make potato fries, they are thick slices of potato instead of the thin ones at fast food. Its the crunchy outside with the soft inside that I love.
#124 to #122 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
yeah you can cut them however you want.....

Well that is where the steaming comes in....
that gives them a softer and more moist inside

and then the contact with the baking paper on the tray gives it a crispy skin

Here are some that I made...
User avatar #125 to #124 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
I like the way it sounds, but those don't look crispy, unless that was the intent with that batch.
User avatar #128 to #125 - glycogen (08/28/2014) [-]
taken with my phone....

But very crispy....
User avatar #129 to #128 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
Hmm, I will have to try it. For the outside to be crispy i'm guessing that I have to flip them on the baking paper?

Ok I have to say it, she is sexy. I'll have to play around until I can get them crisp. I'm guessing that you are from Europe because you call those chips. I was under the impression that you were talking of the american chips, crisps I think you call them. I'll have to play around.
User avatar #117 to #116 - dudeyouisnasty (08/28/2014) [-]
Damn, here is this link too

I dont think that my cravings come from the taste of them as much as I have some urge to eat them. Yeah they taste ok, but since I quit soda they haven't tasted the same. They still taste good, but they don't have the kick they used to.

Sorry about all the hate people are giving you. I myself am a vegan, and I hate when people complain about 'preachy militant vegans' when it is vegans/vegetarians whom are constantly being bombarded with advertisements and propaganda to consume animal products.

I'm not trying to say you shouldn't stand up for your beliefs though. You want to be a vegan then go right a head.
User avatar #14 to #13 - glycogen (07/24/2014) [-]
Its not about that. Its about ******* morons on funnyjunk thinking they are cool for eating dead animals.

Being vegan is cool yeah, not being a vegan isn't and I do not respect people's decisions that harm animals.

It is not a personal choice if it hurts someone.

Wearing a blue scarf is a personal choice.

Paying for an impoverished slaughterhouse worker to mutilate a mother cow is not.
User avatar #15 to #14 - catguy (07/24/2014) [-]
Well, I don't think I'm cool because I eat the flesh of another creature. I don't think I'm cool for eating apples either.
The your post is correct though.
