People want somebody to blame. We don't know all the facts now, but the only person TO blame is the owner of the guns. Somehow they were obtained without her consent and used for violence. But, who is going to blame the person who's dead? Think about the repercussion for calling out somebody on the steps they could have taken to prevent their own death. The backlash is horrible.

So, if you can't blame a system that really isn't going to be improved, you have to look at the little things. You're right, he should have never been let into the school. Too many bad circumstances combined let to something. The government isn't going to solve human error.

I really hope you're being sarcastic. Children do some stupid stuff, whether they intend to or not. Arming children is the worst idea I've ever heard. There's a reason you can't purchase a gun until you're 18 and people take strong measures to keep guns away from children.

I am. I believe that gun control doesn't provide a solution to this situation. He should never have gotten into the school. There's a reason every school has security doors in place. You're right though. We need to keep the guns out of the hands of people who intend to do harm, but that is an incredibly tough task.

But then what if the secretary/assassin decides to murder people? You've just put a potential killer right next to their intended target.

No matter which way a solution is intended, it presents some kind of new problem. So, the system is kind of forced to stay where it currently is.
