gjsmothefirst (12/31/2012) [-] Alright then. It's yet another weapon which can easily kill many people, yes? Depends on how you want to kill, guns are also far easier to target. Yes, but criminals will always find another way. They are bad for a reason. Don't care about upbringing. | I agree they are dangerous extremely dangerous you could take an eye out with one But how do we simply dispose of 16million(est) guns only for criminals to simply carry on using them even if they are illegal That is the big question! #16818 -
gjsmothefirst (12/31/2012) [-] I don't want to ban them, I'm saying that the argument that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" is very weak because a gun is itself a big part of the killing process. I like guns, actually. Not when they're shooting at me, of course, but when used for hunting or such, they're nice. its very weak Its both true and false at the same time I too enjoy using guns for recreational use i.e clay pigeon shooting or just hunting vermin I just get annoyed when people say If you take guns out of the equation the violence would be gone.

| Ammonia and bleach can be used to make mustard gas (which can suffocate everyone in a large radius, it's very easy to buy and can do 10x the damage of a gun). So we must ban everything sharp, chemical, and projectile related. Then we can be safe in your opinion.. right? I mean you can make bombs than can blow up huge areas with just household shit... And you seriously saying guns make it easier? #16793 -
gjsmothefirst (12/31/2012) [-] Ah, but I didn't say to ban guns! I like guns! Seriously guns are fucking awesome. But yes, guns make it easier than some alternatives, notably knives and blunt objects. Please don't tell me it's hard to kill someone with a gun, you should know how much damage can be done (as this is the topic of discussion). It's very convenient and easy, no real setup required - put magazine/clip in gun, possibly pull a bolt and pull the trigger. Ah! Lol. I wasn't going to say that. Just saying there are other alternatives that are better and more efficient. #16825 -

Yes, but criminals will always find another way. They are bad for a reason. Don't care about upbringing. You watch tv or just listen to people around you.. you know what is generally considered bad. If you have a pistol and i have a hummer doing 120km/h who is going to end up worse off I mean hell open a restaurant and still arsenic in everyone's food and loads of people die Should we banned people to right to open their own eating establishment? #16767 -
N. Korean citizen (12/31/2012) [-] The intent of a car is to quickly get you from point A to point B. The intent of a restaurant is to feed people. The intent of a gun is to kill. It has no other purpose. Please stop this ridiculous analogy, it doesn't help at all, plus it makes little sense. Guns are used for recreation, sport, and hunting you dingdong. #16766 -
gjsmothefirst (12/31/2012) [-] Alright then - these are good points, you just misunderstood me. No vehicles, no elaborate schemes and such - if you're in a fight (let's say, in a school or movie theater etc.), and I have a gun, and you don't - I'm going to kill you pretty fast (if I want to). Guns facilitate killing, and make it easy. Sure a Hummer will kill me. Sure arsenic will kill me. I'm all in favor of having Hummers (when you actually need them), restaurants and guns - except some people don't realize that guns are fucking DANGEROUS. I agree they are dangerous extremely dangerous you could take an eye out with one But how do we simply dispose of 16million(est) guns only for criminals to simply carry on using them even if they are illegal That is the big question! #16818 -

gjsmothefirst (12/30/2012) [-] No problem, I hate this just as much as you will, might as well help you out. You honestly don't have to worry about it in your junior year either, summer before senior is the earliest I've seen anyone start caring. Some people go on college visits before that, although that's just because it's more convenient then. Also, remember that you don't have to pick a college until after you get accepted (unless you do early decision, which is kinda stupid - you *have* to go to that college if accepted), so you can apply to a bunch and then pick later.

| I'm going for a 5 year degree (Go through a rushed bachelors and masters to get two degrees whilest only spending 5 years) can't switch degrees with that. Most likely I'm going for computer engineering. If it's to the point where I have to switch degrees it's so bad, I'll push for it. #120 -
gjsmothefirst (12/30/2012) [-] I'm going for a 5 year degree in engineering too, it's actually the same thing for your first 2 or 3 years. Usually they compress your senior year of undergrad + all of grad school into 2 years. But what I'm referring to happens before this. Your choice on the application isn't necessarily what you go for - it's just a suggestion. Once you actually get to your college (before you start courses), you get to talk to counselors and such that'll tell you everything you could possibly want to know about the various majors, and that's where you pick. You've got plenty of time man, don't sweat it. Oh thats awesome! And thanks man, I'm glad I know that now. I've been freaking out over not getting enough information before next year #126 -

gjsmothefirst (12/30/2012) [-] Same guy that hates gaming laptops, right? (not holding a grudge, just asking). I'm in the application process right now, and from everything I've been told, you can change majors if you want to - your selected major on your application is more of a guideline than a rule (think Pirates of the Caribbean and the pirate's code). That being said, pick something close to your intended field I'm going for a 5 year degree (Go through a rushed bachelors and masters to get two degrees whilest only spending 5 years) can't switch degrees with that.
