All that says is that Celsius is useful when working in sciences then. Most people have no use or need for your first point. And simply checking your math isn't that hard. I mean answers are marked wrong on tests if you don't convert for a reason, no excuse for a professional to make that mistake and if it happens due to communication error the fault lies in organization not with Fahrenheit. While I do see how Celsius and Kelvin are useful in science, I think you could argue that Fahrenheit is just as logical to use in daily life.

Actually when it comes to products like books or DVDs, refund because "I didn't like it" is rarely allowed. It can suck that people have to buy blind, but at least you can try and find a place to sell it.
I know what you mean, but these people won't buy what they pirate even if it's good, so it really makes the point invalid.

People seemed to get buy just fine back with cartridges, and this is why you get physical copies of games, so you can sell them if you don't like it. If you open a product and try to bring it back because "I don't like it", stores won't just give you a refund.

And honestly without any cash, how are apps supposed to get any better?
User avatar #138 - eight (10/03/2013) [-]
The world changes. People have always found ways to bootleg entertainment.

The bottom line is, there is a majority that will always prefer to buy physical copies. And I'll let them do it. I don't have the luxury to not put bread on the table for a 20$+ game.

And the truth of the matter is, if I pirated, for instance, the new Amnesia game, it would be irrelevant, because if I were unable to download it illegally, I would still never purchase it.

But guess what? If I download the game, if I enjoy it, I will tell other people about it. I will convince them to try it. And those people might just purchase it.

Another truth is that piracy is actually having a positive effect for game developers, as well as music developers and movie/tv developers. It gets the word out. It draws attention. It is nearly self advertising.

User avatar #147 - kinginyellow (10/03/2013) [-]
That can easily be done with let's-plays and other gameplay videos online. If you tell friends about the game, they'll just go go the free one like you did, so it isn't helping. If I steal a bunch of items from a store, it's ok because I say it's good? No
And it's positive? Really? SO that's why people BANKRUPT Sega over pirating? It's asshats like you that can ruin a company. If you have the option to buy, then buy it, don't make excuses.
User avatar #151 - eight (10/03/2013) [-]
It can also easily be done by simply downloading it. In that case, everybody wins. People get to enjoy the game without spending their savings, and they are able to help advertise the game for further profit. There will always be the crowd that can purchase and does purchase the game.

This is more apparent with the music and video industry in which the creators often applaud illegal downloaders. Such as the creators of GOT.

Stealing physical items vs stealing unlimited 0's and 1's.

Sorry, but it isn't the same. If you really want to argue, I would say that when you buy a physical game or movie, you are paying 20$+ for a plastic case and a little art. as well as the material cost for the disk. The actual content, the game, is free because the data can be copied into infinity and never run out.

I am not an asshat, I was never a customer. It isn't people like me that ruin game companies. If the only way I can attain a game is to purchase it, I won't buy it.

So tell me who am I harming? Who is losing money? Because if I never would have bought the game in the first place. Not all are like me of course, but everyone I personally know, aside from one person is like that.

But guess what? There are many games I initially pirated, loved and then later bought when the price was cut significantly. Spore, Resident Evil 4, and Dead Island to name a few. And I wouldn't have bought any of those games had I not pirated them first. I don't like wasting my money;I can't afford to do so.
User avatar #153 - kinginyellow (10/04/2013) [-]
You really don't get it all. "Stealing physical items vs stealing unlimited 0's and 1's. " the problem with this is, if someone has the digital download they pirated, they won't buy the physical copy, aka ONE LESS CUSTOMER.
If the data is "free" then why is so much money put into making the game? And why is pirating illegal? Obviously it's not free, and you're grasping at straws for an excuse.
And buying used games DOES NOT help the developer at all. All that money goes to the store you bought it from

People had the same mentality as you, and guess what? They pirated tons of Sega Dreamcast games, and now the company has never made another console because off assholes who support pirating
User avatar #156 - eight (10/04/2013) [-]
"You really don't get it all. "Stealing physical items vs stealing unlimited 0's and 1's. " the problem with this is, if someone has the digital download they pirated, they won't buy the physical copy, aka ONE LESS CUSTOMER. "

I don't think you can accurately make that claim. Ironically, a recent study just completed has concluded that pirating does not affect the entertainment industry. news.yahoo.com/blogs/sideshow/new-study-says-online-piracy-isn%E2%80%99t-hurting-entertainment-industry-220006729.html

Many people who download will later buy.
Many people who download would never have bought the item anyway. So no, not one less customer.

"And why is pirating illegal? "
This is a fallacy. This implies that the law is objective and ever lasting. It isn't. It changes. Slavery was once accepted and later done away with. The law might be wrong. It certainly is wrong with its punishments for pirating.

"And buying used games DOES NOT help the developer at all. "
1. It is still legal, you can't complain. 2. Did I say I bought used games? No. I said I bought them discounted.

Don't know anything about Sega, you are the only person I know to bring it up in an argument against piracy. I assume, until you provide the proper documentation, that it is your biased opinion rather than truth.
User avatar #157 - kinginyellow (10/05/2013) [-]
You're an idiot if you can't even bother to look up something just to say "NO I don't agree so it's false!" And discounted is pretty much almost always a used games, they rarely drop price for years upon years, just look at CoD or Battlefield. And yes, piracy did kill off Sega, the Dreamcast was basically a cheap CD burner and people took to copying games instead of paying, and now Sega STILL hasn't brought a new console.

Honestly you're just a thief making excuses, and you're way too sensitive about not liking every single aspect of everything you buy.
#129 - gjsmothefirst (10/03/2013) [-]
... yeah they definitely will give you a refund. I don't know any store (that's in business) that doesn't accept items back, with a receipt and assuming it's still in good condition, for at the very least store credit. The problem is, not everything comes in a physical package these days - and there's no mechanism for a trial.

I'm not saying it's right, but it's kind of forced.
User avatar #132 - kinginyellow (10/03/2013) [-]

Tbh, I think the stencilling thing works quite well. If he does more of these it adds a unique twist, especially with the irregular spacing.
#20 - gjsmothefirst (09/21/2013) [-]
I suppose if he wants to add that twist, he could. Might be interesting.
However, I can't justify the kerning and sloppiness of the stencil usage. IMHO, if he wants to use a stencil it should be done properly - using a straightedge to ensure the baseline is straight, spaced evenly and without the waviness resulting from using a pen with a shaft that is too small.

Dual cards are a different comparison.

I don't know what Britain has, but here in the US we have plenty of regulations for such things - but it's surprisingly easy to pass even the strictest regulations if you try.
