Well I just got done watching Vinny from Vinesauce stream MGS3 and in that game Paramedic keeps talking about how she could clone Big Boss. In the series as far as I know Big Boss has died 3 times.
Once in MG1, the original
Once in MG2, the sequel to the original
And MGS4.
At the end of GZ it's pretty obvious that somebody wants to kill big boss harder than ever before, the only logical explanation would be to go into hiding or something until it blows over. All that business about that head transplant doctor and **** , plus with the Les Enfants Terribles project happening around that time. The Big Boss in the Phantom Pain is missing his hand, in MGS Ocelot got possessed by a hand. At the end of GZ Big Boss could have died in the helicopter crash, his body jacked by Zero, and taken to a hospital for experimentation. With all the dying soldiers in mother base Zero or Skull Face could snatch their bodies and use their parts to form clones of big boss from the data in his hand, they just need to attach the hand for a moment and allow Big Boss's personality to take over. But then Big Boss's supposedly dead corpse could come back to life in the hospital and murder everyone, setting the clones free so he could operate in safety. A clone that thought he was Big Boss could go to Afghanistan and another to Africa. Which could allow Big Boss to appear as though he's in two places at once, furthering his image as a super soldier. At the same time the Les Enfants Terribles project could create the 3 sons. One of which would train under the real big boss and another under one of the clones. When the time came for Snake to kill Big Boss in MG1, the true boss would send out his clone. Allowing him to continue his actions. Again in MG2, Snake would kill a clone. Leaving only the real Big Boss alive for the end of MGS4. Which would be why big boss in TPP is refereed to by like 3 titles.
