Remember in the finale of the first series, and how the lion-turtle was explaining that they, the guardians before the time of the Avatar, utilized the power of "Soulbending" BEFORE the time of the Avatar, only to pass down their knowledge to Avatars to follow? Yeah. What Amon did was simply a physical permanent Chi Block. Like what Ty Lee did, only a thousand times more dangerous. ...I honestly believe they're going to utilize this physical "Soulbending" as a plot device later, to help establish Korra's full realization as the Avatar.
