I agree with you that chickens aren't as dumb as people make them out to be. I've owned chickens in the past, fuckers came up with an ingenious and selfless way to get out of their coop. They all stacked on each others shoulders to hop over the fence. It was about 9 feet high. They also have clear, defined, varying personalities which is always a mark of intelligence.
