'Help from the French and Spanish' is the understatement of the century. All your arms and powder were supplied by France. They collectively tied up the vast majority of the British army elsewhere and also supplied troops to fight in America.

If anything, the fact that the natives fought for the empire suggests that it was the Americans that were greedy and selfish. You didn't care for adding to the collective empire, you simply wanted to completely dominate their land and keep its riches o yourselves.

The tactics employed by the Americans had very little impact overall, it was close to being crushed repeatedly and in many cases the reason there wasn't a crushing defeat was due to unfamiliar weather patterns.

Hell even the tenets of liberty, freedom and equality were ripped directly from the French revolution, unsurprising really since the American revolution was basically the foreign expansion pack to their domestic one.

The butthurt is off the charts. Also you seem to be basing your knowledge of Americas war for independence entirely off gaudy films made in the US.

It wasn't so much a glorious fight against an evil empire as it was a bunch of hillbillies begging another country to beat someone up.

The only film I've seen about the revolution was The Patriot, I get most of my history from *gasp* history classes in high school and college. We had help from the French and Spanish, but you had many loyalists that turned on their fellow colonists fighting for you, and many Native Americans either full out fighting on your side or using the war as an opportunity to strike at us. The UK may not have been evil, just greedy, but American forces fought well in most of their battles, and utilized militia for effective guerrilla tactics adopted from the natives as a way to beat the heavily organized british military that didn't know how to fight an enemy that didn't stand in a neat orderly line in front of them to be shot.

So you have argued that European countries are inferior but also that it makes no sense dick measuring because neither of you have actually contributed to historic details. Hmmm...

The last time the UK tried to 'smack America back into place' it was entirely down to the French using the rebellion as a proxy war. 'Americans' had very little to do with the ultimate success so that would make one of those 'inferior' European countries far more successful already. Whats more, the force sent to deal with America was less than a third of the British army. The rest was tied up in wars with actual world powers, not backwater yokels half a world away. In terms of profit/loss margins it was far more important for the Empire to protect other assets at the time.

Try actually looking into history rather than taking the 'MURICA FUCK YEH! Propoganda at face value.

Called Europe a country, 7 words later a continent. You are aware that your country is more ignorant than most. Not all of you are though
#51 - gewehr (06/21/2013) [-]
Didn't call europe a country, I meant each individual person is mad that their own country is inferior. But usually when they talk about the accomplishments they talk about the stuff "Europe" has done and not their own country itself. When Americans talk about their country we don't talk about what mexico and Canada do and act like it's part of our culture, but that seems to be how everyone from Europe does it. Our country is more ignorant than most, do you have any actual facts to back this up, or is that just the usual "hurr durr all Americans are dumb because reasons... am i cool now guise"
