I'm sorry to tell you this, but you'd be surprised how much of an achievement making it past highschool for some of the kids in our generation. Those you don't need this or that because you've got swagg jokes sadly are actually how some of the kids act in this generation. Also, it's nice to show a little school pride here and there at least pride in the intelligent people.
