By your logic McDonald's is British.....after all, they started the 13 colonies, right?

It doesn't matter what it was, it matters what it is. People can't be bought and sold, but, if you meet the legal requirements, you can absolutely be British. Anyone who can legally reside in Ireland for five years can become Irish if they fill out the paperwork and take the test.

The first settlers to Boston arrived in 1630. That's 107 years before the first official parade that was put on. If you honestly believe that every single person involved in the parade, 107 years later, was 100% Irish....well....you'd be wrong. Majority? Sure.

In any sense, it doesn't matter. If an American athlete wins Gold at the Olympics, it doesn't matter what his ethnicity is, it is an American gold. These were people who ditched Ireland in favour of the American colonies. It was the citizens of the American colonies that introduced the Saint Patrick's Day Parades, not the citizens of Ireland. It was, without a doubt, the United States, that made Saint Patrick's Day Parades popular.

Sorry - Being Irish doesn't make you right....

Guinness was first brewed in Dublin (about 2 km from where I live). Not claiming otherwise. But who owns the brand? It was sold to Diageo. That's the company that owns and produces (directly or indirectly) all the Guinness beer in the world. Diageo is headquartered in....LONDON, England. Guinness is British. It *was* Irish.

True, being right makes me right.

I'm well aware it was bought by Diageo, but that doesn't make it British. I'm Irish, if I
move to England does that mean I'm British? No. It is now owned by a British
company but it is an Irish product, that originated in Ireland and made by an Irish
man. Now don't get me wrong, I couldn't care less if it was Irish or not, i'm
only replying because everything you're saying is either factually wrong, or
logically wrong...
But anyway, i'm done with this, it's a silly argument and it's going to go nowhere.
Goodbye.

Herp de derp.....

They were Americans of Irish descent. Next you'll cry when I tell you Guinness is British. Tards can thumb me down all day long, but a Google shows I'm 100% correct. First Saint Patrick's Day Parade was done by Americans, in Boston. Not Ireland. Now you can find them all over the world.
User avatar #40 - galahads (03/19/2014) [-]
Actually they were 100% Irish immigrants in Boston, not just of Irish descent, they did it in order to assert their nationality and to have something Irish to
celebrate. Before that became a thing the whole drinking and mad
celebration tradition was the complete opposite, in fact pubs were closed on the
day. Source, i'm fucking Irish and know this shit, the almighty Google God isn't
all knowing i'm afraid, jackass, and if you actually searched properly you'd see that
is says "Irish immigrants" (which means they're Irish, not American), not "people
of Irish descent".

Also, Guinness was first brewed in Dublin in 1759, so i'm not sure if you were
being serious or just being a cunt for the sake of it but either way you're wrong
there also...

Herp de fucking derp....
