They actually are the same thing (ASPD and Sociopathy). They just changed the medical name as it was deemed not fair on those who are not psycho-killers to be labelled as 'sociopathic' as people always assume that vicariously means serial killer due to the media.
I've always been this way, as far as I can remember. I've just only recently decided (mainly due to a push from my family) to go see a psychiatrist and get it diagnosed, it hasn't come as much of a surprise.
And the thing with CS Lewis' theory is that it doesn't take people like myself into account. When out on a daily basis I am required to fake all of my 'friendly' interactions with people, pretend to empathize with peoples sorrows ect. I've been doing it for years and it has yet to make me truly feel those emotions. Interesting theory nonetheless.

Honestly, I think you're not as bad as you want to be. I don't know you personally, but just judging on this conversation, you're probably an attention craving bitch. Type of guy that likes to pretend he's a Sociopath and that he's deep and mysterious. Grow up kid. You only made the first post for attention. Peace

No, there's no medication to be taken for sociopathy (Or ASPD, which is the diagnosis name for it) I guess some may take anti-depressants as I have heard some get so confused with where their 'mask' ends and they begin, which can cause some distress I can imagine. Personally I'm quite satisfied with my life as I am, sure it becomes a little monotonous trying to imitate regular human interaction but it's also fascinating to see how certain people react to things I will say if I fall 'out of character' per se.
#24457 - gabethedrone (06/28/2012) [-]
Well I don't know if I would consider Anti-Social as Sociopolitical but to each there own.
Any idea why you might be this way? Also look up CS Lewis's theory on good pretending verse bad pretending when you get a chance. It's actually very socially healthy to learn about social interaction though pretend, if you're not feeling just pretend to be and it will come more naturally, practice makes perfect kinda.
Also, Im pretty heavily depressed, but I learned to deal with it naturally. Though exercise, hobbies, etc

#24447 - So why do you consider yourself a Sociopath? Ever been diagnosed?  [+] (9 new replies) 06/28/2012 on Social Board 0
#24452 - anonymous (06/28/2012) [-]
I have been diagnosed. Though thankfully I'm not under any cause for concern in their 'professional opinions', which means I'm not dangerous or anything. Just means I'm a little off by most peoples standards as I only feel very little emotion. Anger, fascination, amusement and to most peoples surprise, love. Plus a few other very fleeting ones that I don't care to list. I just never feel regret or remorse for my actions.
#24453 - gabethedrone (06/28/2012) [-]
Do you recall what you were diagnosed with? I have a big history of mental illness in my family, so I find it interesting. Also do you take any meds?

#24438 - Are you really a Sociopath or just socially awkward?  [+] (11 new replies) 06/28/2012 on Social Board 0
#24445 - anonymous (06/28/2012) [-]
Well, Sociopathy and social awkwardness are actually very different. Sociopaths are actually rather good with most social situations, mimicking the reactions that the people around them are having to stimuli. Whereas socially awkward people are more likely to just avoid social situations or screw them up.
But yes, I am really a sociopath.
