You've got a good point; after all, the number of "boy-out-of-window-pushings" tripled after they showed Jaime doing that on screen.

The only thing frightening here is your inability to distinguish a real life scenario from a fictional one, and your inability to compare rape to the murder of a child (I wouldn't mind if you compared them and came to a different conclusion than I had, but you seem unwilling to even grasp that the comparison was the point of the original comment). Your distaste for rape is well-justified but it's not an excuse to completely abandon all sense of perspective and rationality.

I'm aware that this is fiction, and I see where you're coming from. However, you've got to bear in mind that thousands of young people watch this show, so when they see a scene like that being brushed off as kinda consensual sex, they carry that through to real life. I'm only speaking about the social repercussions of that acene.

As for murder, that is different. Everyone knows murder is wrong, and no one hesitated to hate Jamie when he did it. However they may have felt in the subsequent seasons is up to personal interpretation of his growth as a person.

They don't generally show footage of fictional media in court cases.

This is fiction. This is not analogous to real life. The creator says what it is, and anyone who disagrees is wrong.

If you and the director disagree about what happened in the director's TV show, then the director is correct and you are wrong.
User avatar #134 - futuristiclover (04/26/2014) [-]
So if you were on a jury in court and were shown that footage, you would not say it was rape?
I don't care what the director said. Rape does not ever "become consensual"

Yes, it was rape and it was horrible, but the point is that Jamie has already done despicable things in the show like attempting to murder a child. It doesn't make sense that people are just now waking up to the fact that he's not the upstanding model citizen they thought he was.
#94 - anonymous (04/26/2014) [-]
Even though I hated the butchering of this scene, I do kind of think that the directors made Jaime rape Cersei as a way to remind people what kind of guy Jaime is AROUND Cersei. When they are together, the audience hates him, but when they are separate, the audience loves him.
#130 - anonymous (04/26/2014) [-]
That was a great observation. Cersei is the one person he truly loves, and so his intense desire for her drives him to succumb to his urges, such as attempting to murder a child in order to keep them safe. My guess is that Cersei and Jaime have always had this sort of forbidden, filthy and rough kind of love between them. They won't cuddle and dine in the moonlight, they'll claw and rip at each other and then proceed to wild, pugnacious lovemaking.

TLR, Jaime needs to spend more time away from Cersei (AND DATE BRIENNE)
