I enjoyed Firewarrior, its shortcomings was less Tau's fault and more some weird graphical and location choices, a shooter made with modern graphics to show and teach some of the Tau world would be much appreciated, even if it was the same idea of being an initiate born by fire as Firewarrior.

Firewarrior yes, in dawn of war they were late and in dawn of war 2 they don't exist.
They get very little attention.

Are you considering doing a Crimson Fist army? If so i recommend units that have power fists like terminators and equiping all sergeants with them, the Crimson Fists use them more often than any other close combat weapon. Also, specialize in Tactical squads as that makes up the bulk of the Crimson Fists.
User avatar #7 - fusionblade (03/09/2013) [-]
Thought about it, but ended up doing grey knights and tau. If I ever do a third they would most likely be it. My friend was making a crimson fist army when we were starting out and I didn't want the battles to be confusing/boring.

This is the problem with the Warhammer community nowadays... people tend to give feedback like "good job" and "Amazing" about stuff which is rather crappy... I see it everywhere and I am sick of it

Ok sounds easy enough thanks for the advice. What about the gold parts and the loincloth what would I use for that?
User avatar #17 - fusionblade (03/06/2013) [-]
well for the gold when I was just starting, I tried to paint every little thing without messing up the black backround. I soon found out that is just way too time cosuming and doesn't look that great. So what you do is dip a medium size brush in something like dwarf bronze(a darker metalic tone) and just kinda paint/bloch it in those areas. not too much or the detail will be swallowed by the paint, but just enough so that the lettering is covered. Don't worry about the backround or getting some on the armor. If some gets on the armor you can touch it up later. After all the gold areas have their "base" you'll want to put a wash over them, mixture of paint and water, can be store bought or self made. I used a mix between badab black and delvan mud (citadel washes) if you make your own just put together some black and dark brown and add about the same amount of water on a mixing tray. Ok once you've "washed" the gold areas then you can highlight them with a brighter gold color like "shining gold". - As for the cloth take some "bleached bone" or any off white color and slap it on there. don't worry about brush stokes showing, they actually add to the texture. After that a brown wash like "delvan mud" thown and I mean who cares where this stuff ends up on top of that. There you have it! Whew it's really simpler than it looks in text lol

Oh and paint in sort of a vigorous fashion, the technique is meant to get the raised areas of the model and leave the darker shadowy lower ones

What do you mean drybrush I'm pretty new to painting so i dunno sorry :P
User avatar #14 - fusionblade (03/05/2013) [-]
Sorry. you dip your brush into the paint, but before painting onto the model, wipe a good amount onto a paper towel or something. Enough so that your brush is dry, but paint will still come off it. You'll want to use a more stiff brush for it but any will do really. does this help?
