To be fair, any TV will do to play games on, plus most people already have a TV. Far from everyone has a decent PC that can be used to play games on, though.
Cables and plenty of other additional costs are required for PC gaming as well.
Unless you download your games like an asswipe, how is the cost of games special for console gamers?

Steam has a sale pretty much most of the time, setting games down 20%-80% meaning most of the time PC games are dirt cheap.

Also any additional costs for a PC are usually cheaper because consoles tend to want you to buy the "Console branded" shit which you need to pay up the arse for while you can find all sorts of things for the computer which are, once again, dirt cheap.

Owning a X-box 360, a PS3 and a gaming computer, I'd say i've actually sunk less money into my gaming computer than my x-box and PS3
