I didn't say they are the same, but if you are already planning on posting a goalpost on the arbitrary level you want, at least pretend to make up some criteria for it.
Furthermore, I assume you are unacquainted with German municipalities, as they can easily operate as autonomous countries, and I believe that is a perfectly reasonable criteria for which entities are taken in account for this consideration.
Also, a note on your "superpower" claim. What is true for the whole, does not necessary mean that it is true for its parts. While some of American states can be considered a rather developed entities in itself, all of them are where they are exclusively because they are a part of USA. I honestly doubt that any of them would be anywhere near their current level if they hadn't been part of USA as whole.
Not really sure what you're even taking as criteria for considering them to be "superpowers". Economy? Hah, hardly, majority of products of substantial quality in USA are imported, and even current economy works (barely) only because of sheer massiveness that is USA, and the accompanying cooperation and synergy. Military? No single state would have available the kind of financing USA has to throw into military development. Nuclear arsenal? Even if they could afford it (and are allowed by UN), no single state could match any of other nuclear superpowers, mostly because of same financial reasons.
TL;DR - USA works because of its massiveness and accompanying synergy effect, which is a well known "rule" in economy (2+2=5).

Masterful argument. "I haven't read it, but it must be bad"
Are you a 12 year old, or just a retarded twat?
I've provided a somewhat objective state of affairs considering USA, based on empirical facts. If we were to more closely describe what would states look like if they weren't part of USA, it would require a more detailed description of situation. If you believe I've erred somewhere, then either dispute it, or gtfo.
I'll assume you're going to do the latter, considering that every single sentence you utter screams with "Hurr durr, 'murica!"
Btw, explains are not robots here to do your biding, as it seems that is your opinion, but rather a human beings who, believe it or not, are free to browse this site just like anyone. Are you by any chance racist or a member of KKK? You sound like someone who would be.

I remembered hearing something about that monument being in the wrong spot, but then I looked it up and things were more complicated than I thought.
tl;dr, the monument and other border markings were not where they were supposed to be, but those markings became the legally binding boundary lines. the monument is still 1,800 feet east of where it should be, but considering the tools they had at the time (none of these fancy GPS systems), it was as accurate as could be hoped for.
