| Now . . . Paramore is a definite no for punk in any way shape or form. They just stuck the word riot in the background of a music video. As for Four Year Strong, just listened to them and I can admit they're PopPunk-ish. If they were in Pop Goes Punk, then there are probably some trace elements of PopPunk, but the majority is still definitely metalcore using the word "punk" just to make it seem more edgy. #59202

| It has evolved, but it hasn't gotten heavier. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMX2lPum_pg This is modern pop punk www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfcLcDBII78 The bands in pop goes punk are pop-metalcore. They're completely different sounding to anything pop punk. #59194

fuckyourmum (04/24/2013) [-] well first off thanks for posting some of my favorite bands dude :) but yes it has gotten a bit heavier. just look at this definition of Four Year Strong "Four Year Strong is an American pop punk/melodic hardcore band" and yes they are up the heavier scale where as down the other end you have bands such as paramore the bands you are talking about are somewhere in the middle. pop punk has a wide scale dude Now . . . | The bands I've seen in those albums aren't pop-punk. Here's pop punk [one of the few pop punk bands I like]: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wAtUw6lxcis Here's pop goes punk bands: www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_yCTsL3pOU They're very different. I'm not hating the metalcore genre, just saying that those albums are gravely misrepresenting a genre. #59191

| I wouldn't even call them pop punk. I don't really like pop punk much, but those bands seem more pop-metalcore than pop-punk. Also, the very act of covering pop songs for a compilation album is a excommunication in the punk world. #59189
