It is my first playthrough, but I've helped kill it when summoned. I've used the halberd, the spear, and a good old sword and shield with 100% physical block or whatever the stat is.

Here is a nice guide where the guy outlines basically everything that needs to be done against the Capra Demon. Don't feel too bad, this is the real "wake up boss" to the game and is often the most difficult for new players
