| Fair enough, brofist to you as well. But you know what? You can learn to channel your attention span to something more productive. I'll admit, it wasn't easy. But bothe me AND my father have learned to go without. I'm not one to tell you what to do, but you'll feel better about yourself It's not just a behavioral problem, ADHD is based around the hyperactivity of the "vacuums" that pull neurotransmitters out of your synapses. No amount of behavioral training fixes that synaptic behavior. First off, stop thinking of it as a deficiency. Then, you can relize that while you're less talented in some areas, there are other things you are good at. Like multitasking, for one. ADHD doesn't help you with multitasking. The executive center of your brain literally does not work. I know what it is. I've had as much experiance with it as anyone. I also know a little bit about psychology, enough to know that you're experiancing what is called "Learned Helplessness" You won't try to do anything about it because you think you can't, not because you actually can't. Psychology is behavioral therapy at best. I know what I can't do; I learned my limitations before I even knew what ADHD was. Now that I'm on meds, those limitations are gone, and I can do things that I need to do. I didn't imagine them, it's a physical limitation when your re-uptake is too fast. You seem to forget that I have the same condition, and I've managed to control/use/redirect it. Trust me, it didn't slip my mind. You cannot control your synaptic behavior. You cannot use the inability to perform executive functions without emotional involvement, and you cannot redirect what you seem to think is some kind of inborn energy. It's not simply hyperactivity. It's not emotional other than the fact that it's more difficult do something you don't like doing. It's literally an overactive re-uptake in your synapses. If you want to be dependent on a drug to function, fine by me. But I got tired of it, so I did something. Well, that's my choice, and that's yours. So let's just agree to disagree. Okay, so you believe I have the same condition as you, but you don't believe anything else I'm saying? I definitely believe that you have ADHD, but I don't agree with you about how best to handle it. | ||
