I don't have my fish tank any more, I came to the conclusion that I wasn't enjoying having them any more so I wasn't giving the tank as much care as it required, I didn't think that was fair so I got rid of it.

Admittedly, I didn't do my research on how they'd behave with my other fish and what it would need in the tank. It was a small Siamese fighting fish.

Yep that was a disaster in the making. Bettas are nice with how colorful they are but it's really hard to keep them with other fish. The tank needs to be big enough for them to have their own space. Small passive schooling fish and bottom dwellers (like corys) work. Stay away from anything known to nip fins.

Nip fins? I had a clown puffer and it bit one of my other fish in half.

These are freshwater dwarf puffers, they get maybe around 2 inches max. They can slaughter inverts but are too small to kill many other fish. I guess you'd have an issue with small fish like neon tetras. Of course a decent amount of their behavior has to do with the condition of the tank. Many people don't provide enough hiding spots for fish.

fresh or salt water?

Fishfag here, these are likely the brackish species (basically half fresh, half salt) but there are some nice Freshwater species but the name escapes me at the moment

i have a 55 gallon tropical tank and always wanted to add a little puffer but obviously it needs to be a freshwater species, thanks for the help tho anon-senpai!~

Dwarf Indian puffer fish. Freshwater fish from India they want no salt content. Spotted puffer gets bigger and wants brackish.

I used to have them. cute little bastards killed anything that wasn't a puffer, except for the algae eater. They didn't give a damn for some reason.

And from that we can draw that all companies that are competing to make a product in a certain field have a mutual understanding to not strive to make the most efficient product there can be because then all the rest of the companies would have to follow suit and would all make less money than they could be making, which basically is the description of a monopoly.

I have owned my iPhone for about 5 years now because I've been too lazy to get anything else. I had a 3Gs before this one (iPhone 4) which I had for about the same amount of time. I hardly ever get the newest model.

There was a scandal around alarm companies in the UK a few years back, alarm units where being installed in houses with a 12 month warranty... and a flip-flop circuit on a 13 month timer. The alarm unit fails and out comes the engineer, resets the circuit and asks for 300 quid, and 13 months down the line it happens again.

This is more than just apple

It's a really common practice for companies, the Xbox 360 was pretty known for it, yknow the red ring problem?

My Sony Ericsson just stopped working after having it for 5 months with little to none damage and useage.
#43 - fuckingcubes (08/24/2014) [-]
Yeah, it's a pretty widespread practice. Phones were just a good example to use in this discussion. All of this stuff has it's underlying roots in the consumer revolution though. We consume and use up so much stuff as a way to show our social status.
User avatar #36 - MasterManiac (08/24/2014) [-]
I'm not sure the Red Ring problem was intentional at all. I remember that if you had an Xbox registered to within some date (ie. first batch out to about a year old) then if you got the RROD then Microsoft would fix it for free, irrespective of when your warranty expired. My Xbox 360 broke down something like 3 years after buying and Microsoft told me to send it and they fixed it for free and it hasn't broken since.
User avatar #38 - Jameshaich (08/24/2014) [-]
They gave out warranties for different red ring problems

Some had 3 years, the most common had 1 year

Light bulb industry's FW your light bulbs break before one that was made 100 years ago.
#25 - Jameshaich (08/24/2014) [-]
I think it's due to my rooms wiring or sumshit

But everytime i turn my lights on, there is like a 50% chance the bulb will blow
User avatar #45 - vgmddg (08/25/2014) [-]
There's probably too much power going into the socket or something. See if you can get an opinion from an electrician on that. Does it happen with any type of bulb?
#27 - lastweek (08/24/2014) [-]
If it's that bad it probably is because of something like that... they are probably shit in terms of the light emitted and I'm not sure how much of the time they have been on but I am serious
