When I like the villain more than the hero, Lex Luther for example, the hero is lacking.

Thats not the argument I'm getting at, what I'm saying is that in many instances such as God or superheroes we ask why don't they do everything for us which in my opinion is wrong. As people we should grow and learn ourselves, Superman can be a balance for something like say a super villain which humanity could not face alone but we should also not need him for everything.

a lot of stuff that is vital to our society today were pioneered by "mad doctors" of the past for instance, dr.frankenstein was inspired by a "insane scientist who tried to bring people back to life by using electricity" and yes. even tho people like mengel were poor excuses for scientists, their tests, and the results they recorded, are vital for medical science.specially so since these sort of tests cant be reproduced in modern era due to obvious reasons.

Absolutely. A lot of these characters go through low and high points based on their current writer/writers and their powers can change drastically as well. I remember at one point I think it was in the 80s spider-man was the fourth or fifth physically strongest Marvel hero. I have noticed that DC heroes seem to change more drastically from one writer to the next sometimes with different comics, taking place in the same universe, being published at the same time but Marvel heroes will slowly get more and more ridiculously overpowered over several years before before they start to tone things down a bit.

however their research is invaluable to modern science. and they did get the dogs head to react to some stimuli.

Of course, same thing with the German human experiments, while they may not be moments in history we are fond of they contribute to our well being.
