sure, but 1, as i said, you shouldn't be a dick towards anyone.
2, the comic is just a strawman, people don't talk like that to eachother. (a much more likely conversation would be"i fucking love resident evil" "hey what's your favorite game in the series" "i have only played resident evil 6 but i didn't finish it" "oh, well im going to talk to someone who has actully played the games"
3, if you want to engade in an subculture, while you of course don't need to actully know a whole damn lot but you shouldn't act like the little you know is enough to justify a position in where your opinion actully matters
for example, if you were to go on /a/ and say "i haven't watched a whole lot of anime, what are some really good stuff that to get me started" besides the buko no picos and the "go read the wikit, fag", you would probably get some actual responses from people wanting to help you develop your taste because you show an genuine interest in the thing whereas if you where addamant that naruto(while it might seem im hating on naruto, i don't mind it, it's just an entry level example) is the gratest thing, despite the fact that you have a VERY limited library and uneducated opinion on the topic and you argue that anyone who claims that your opinion is shit is sexist/whatever, is someone who is very stubborn and doesn't really belong in that place and shouldn't call themselves a fan of anime
this is ofcourse only my opinion

again, the person in the comic did not claim to be a part of the subculture as a gamer girl.
I do realize what you're trying to say, but that point really doesn't apply to the given situation.
My personal experience has been that if you as a girl enjoy a video game, people often assume you are completely immersed in the gamer subculture, i.e. a "girl gamer", and go on the offensive trying to prove that you are not, asking questions about gaming as a whole, other games from the same series or just completely other games, either considered classics or must-plays.
To use your example of anime or naruto it would be more like the following:
"man, I really like that naruto cartoon thing, it's pretty cool!"
"Yeah, but can you count all the characters in the konoha village? Wanna discuss who was the best villain and which version of Uchiha that is?"
"no, but i-"
"wow. i bet you haven't even watched all the episodes, or even played the games related to the series. You're not a serious naruto fan at all!"
Personally I believe that elitism within a fan subculture is really wierd. I mean, if you enjoy something, are you not a fan of it? What quota of knowledge and invested time do you have to fill to be considered a fan of something, and why would your opinion matter less because your interest in the fandom or subculture is more pinpointed to a particular part of it?
Of course, only my own thoughts

Yes but how much do you pay in in taxes for your healthcare system. That also has to be factored in to your 'cost'. The truth is that without a 'socialized' health care system - which we have by the way- 30% of my income is removed from my paycheck for state, local, social security, and medicare.
Medicare requires you to have 40 points and a point is given for every $1226 earned. I worked from 15-20, three of those years at part time at a wage averaging $5.25 an hour. I already have 20 points. Even at minimum wage and part time I could quialify for medicare when I retire after 10 years of work.
Obamacare subsidies are socialized healthcare because they are funded by taxes. At 60,000 a year my family qualified for 10,000 in subsidies and would have only had to pay 200 a month for 6 people with comparable insurance to what I have now which is 200/400 deductable, 90% coverage and 1000/2000 out of pocket max. Thankfully we get our insurance through work.
There is also medicaid for pregnant women, children and the disabled.
Not to mention the countless charities that help people. Ronald McDonald houses who give parents of kids who are in the hospital long term a place to stay nearby without worrying about how they will afford a hotel. St Jude's who has a sliding scale and won't turn away any child because their parents can pay and which relies on donations to help support their costs.
Yes healthcare is too expensive here with too much variation in cost for the same procedure or test, but it's not as though there is no where to turn, and if you have 3 kids you really should have decent insurance. You cannot be denied Obamacare due to a preexisting condition, max lifetime payouts are no longer allowed. This is far more complicated than most people outside the US understand.
