I learned what cold blooded meant when i was 5 years old, are you not 5 yet?

Actually, he is pretty much right, are you sure you learned correctly?

umm, are you sure you know what cold blooded actually means? No it doesn't mean they like to be cold.
It means they significantly lack the ability to heat their own body, and rely on environmental heat sources. putting clothing on your snake is a pretty darned good idea
anyways, that aside, anyone who owns a snake will tell you that getting them to wear this would be easy. Snakes LOVE to touch things. In any environment they try to find places where as much of their body is in contact with stuff as possible, which leads to them slithering inside dishes and down any narrow tube they can fit in.
You could probably just drop a few of these into the tank, the snakes would dress themselves once they figure it out. And they would love it.

being cold blooded means the snake wouldn't be able to rely on the insulating abilities of the sweater because the snake cannot produce its own body heat, but rather has to rely only on external heating sources, thus the only reason this sweater exists is because it looks cute. i think that might be what he was getting at

Guy, you're kind of dumb. They are cold blooded... this means they DO NOT PRODUCE HEAT. Want to know what else doesn't produce heat? Sweaters. Sweaters keep humans warm because they hold the heat that we already release close to our skin. A snake wearing a sweater is pointless because the snake is releasing no heat... thus *BAM* no warmth.

A blanket, or any type of clothing, will NOT generate any heat. I wish they could, because then we'd cover shit (like plastic) up in clothes and hey, free energy. So, if a snake is cold blooded, it means that it can't heat its body up and has to rely on external heat sources. That being said, clothes are NOT an external heat source, and will only trap heat and make the snake warmer in case it WAS able to heat its body up, which it isn't. So, a "snake sweater" would do shit for a cold-blooded animal.Your blanket isn't the thing warming you up, your body is. The blanket is just there to trap your body heat from "spreading" around the room.
I fucking love how the guy who posted the original comment got thumbed down into oblivion by all you fucking retards even though he was right -.-

Not sure if anyone cares but I am a bro with a short but cool story.
My snake sits on some shelving to the right of the room. I once cleaned his tank and had replaced the lid, I then went back to my bed and tapped away on the computer. I was listening to music on my headphones and so I did not realise that I hadn't weighted the snakes lid, and he had popped it open and slithered out. Anyways, it's winter so he naturally seeked out the main heatsource in my room, which is my radiator. He had slithered all through the junk under my bed, slithered up the back of my radiator and popped his head out the top! I managed to get him out but by god I was very fucking lucky.
I kick myself for letting that happen due to all of the possible consequences.

and snakes dont love to touch things... the reason why they seem to like to bury themselves is a defense mechanism that they have to hide from potential predators and in their natural habitat snakes find these small crevasses because (again insulation) the heat from rocks and sand/soil are warm when the sun is not out

Alright, let's get this started;
1: You're right about cold blooded creatures not generating their own body heat. I'll give you that.
2: However, this does mean that the sweater will not hold in the extra body heat, because there is no extra body heat to hold in. Blankets/sweaters/clothes in general do not create heat, simply trap it in.
3. You might say, "But it will maintain the snake's temperature when it gets cold out!" Sure, if this snake lived outside, the sweater could keep the snake from freezing as fast. But notice, this snake lives indoors, probably with people, where it is probably comfortably warm with or without the sweater.

Coffee starts out hotter than the environment around it, we put it in a thermos to keep it from losing its heat. Barring a drastic shift in temperature, a snake will always be the same temperature as its environment--it has no heat to lose. It's not 'radiating heat' at all.. Erego, the insulation does nothing. He's not gaining OR losing body heat if he's the same temperature as what's around him already; insulation would only make a difference if, for some reason, the temperature was dropping.
#25 - anonymous poster (12/07/2013) [-]
uh, the blanket only works because it is holding in body heat, which the snake does not make like warm blooded creatures do. Sure, if the temperature outside is dropping, it would help, since it helps maintain the current temperature of said snake, but in a terrarium inside of a assumedly heated house, not so much.

pic semi-related; cold blooded
#18 - anonymous poster (12/07/2013) [-]
Well no shit they won't warm them. But they will keep them from losing heat faster.
#26 - anonymous poster (12/07/2013) [-]
yeah, I'm guessing this snake is not living in freezing conditions. Probably in a terrarium, in somebodies house, comfortably warm. Without the sweater.
