N. Korean citizen (09/08/2012) [-] Not even as simple as that... I've given plenty of time to voluntary work, and yet I still can't find a job anywhere. There's just so few, and those which do crop up receive an average of 250 applicants (and this is an official figure where I am).

frodothetroll (09/08/2012) [-] I agree about the dead fetus thing... as far as I'm concerned, until the central nervous system has fully formed, its not a life, its just a bunch of cells. Well... I'm not entirely sure, but brain function has actually been recorded all the way down to 6th month of pregnancy. Does that warrant life, I'm not sure. That's why I let the question of whether to use the cells of the fetus or not up to the parents. That way, no-one can actually complain, even if they don't like it. #110 -
frodothetroll (09/08/2012) [-] What makes me rage more than anything is the pro life fags who argue that "the little heart has already started beating" Well no shit, the heart beats all by itself without any input from the brain. You could tear a persons heart out of their chest and as long as you kept it supplied with oxygen and glucose it would keep beating. Yes. Many people are extremely dense when it comes to matters like this. Many are unable to see past the norm value "all human life is equal" and see that the laws of nature dictates otherwise. And with such a view, we can use those who were not fortunate enough to live, such as stillborn fetuses, to better the lives of those who still live. Social norms and values are not absolutes, even though they are considered to be exactly that by the masses.

| I think what it's trying to say is that the mutated/ defective genes that cause cancer could allow us to replicate our damaged cells indefinitely, but instead it just rapidly produces a mass of useless cells that can ultimately end up killing us. so if we can alter the cancer cells ito making useful cells we would be immortal....TO THE LAB! Not really, but that could work too. Have you heard of stamcell research? They essentially give you an injection of unspecialized that can (potentially) specialize into the types of cells around the injection area. This has been proved to be able to cure som cases of paralysis and some kinds of syndromes. Stem Cell research has proven to be very successful too but the only way to efficiently get the stem cells is to harvest human fetuses and everyone starts raging when people do that. It's probably expensive like most revolutionary things too A university has recently converted red blood cells back into stem cells using electricity.
